I don't get some of the negative reviews here... they certainly don't match our experience.

We were staying in the hotel where Les Jardins de Bala is based (Les Jardins de La Koutoubia). We ate dinner one night in the restaurant and lunch another day.

The restaurant is located on the top floor overlooking the lovely garden courtyard with birds flying around and the cool air whistling through. It is also on the same deck as the rooftop pool terrace so you can get lunch from the restaurant while you're lounging by the pool :)

As far as the food is concerned, this isn't your standard London local curry house - its a fancy restaurant in a fancy hotel.... so what you get here is "poshed-up" indian... they've made an effort to make the dishes presented differently and cheffy... it certainly makes the food presentation look great and the food all tastes great too. Nothing is too outlandish and extreme and the dishes are all recognisably what you order but they are a little "different"...

The service was relaxed but that is the whole atmosphere of a very relaxing spa-style hotel. We had no problems with service although the whole hotel is much more oriented to French-speakers than English-speakers so you may have to make sure you are clear about your order and your requests.

We also ate here for lunch one day... the lunch menu has a wider range of dishes and non-Indian snacks but all toward the lighter end of the scale.

My husband and I were returning from our walking tour of the Medina when we passed the Hotel Les Jardins de La Koutoubia and spotted the sign for Les Jardins de Bala. Our guide explained that the restaurant was well noted in Marrakech for good food and we should try it during our stay. Well we did and were pleasantly surprised. I had not read the reviews on trip advisor prior to going so didn’t realise how mixed they were
It was dusk when we arrived so the atmosphere on the rooftop was lovely with the Koutoubia Mosque in the background lit up. We found the wait staff attentative but not intrusive and the food delicious.
Personally we would return as we enjoyed the Samosas Vegetarian, Tikka Masala, Agneau Jal frezi and Riz Basmati Pulao. We didn’t have any wine, only sparkling water and the bill came to approximately US 46.00. I can’t comment on the Indian authenticity of the food as some have however our dinner was tasty and based on our experience we would certainly return to Les Jardins de Bala again

Go there for poor service, wrong food, cold food and not so great tasting Indian food!
Asked for vegetarian samosas, got lamb samosas, then was given cold vegetarian samosas - no apology given, only excuses! Main meal was tangy and bitter. Nan bread only thing which was ok. Don't waste your time going there

Cant say im a little suprised by the many bad reviews online; the only reason we went was due to staying in the hotel... Thankfully we did go...
Food ... Fantastic.... Service... Great.
Maybe judging on the reviews we were just lucky? I will be going again on this trip

We live in Marrakech, and we are often desperate for non-Moroccan food. This is the only Indian restaurant in the medina (one of the only in town). We love Indian food and have eaten it all over the world. We had a few bland and expensive meals at this restaurant last year, but we were so desperate for Indian, we went back tonight. It was a perfect Marrakech spring evening-around 70 degrees (21 c), the sun setting over the Koutoubia-so we asked to please be seated in their very impressive rooftop terrace. The manager curtly said no and walked away. He didn't even try to accommodate us. I asked why not-it's beautiful out-and he said "I decide"! He was just rude. The place was completely empty, with 5 waiters standing around doing nothing. Terrible management, bland food. Avoid.
