“A great Indian in a wonderful hotel that is worth a visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 25, 2013 via mobile

I am a little surprised by some of the negative reviews here on the food. I felt that the range of dishes we ordered were well flavoured and spiced, juicy and not over cooked. The shrimp rice cooked in a clay pot was delicious, really empathising the flavour of the shrimp. Chicken tikka masala was also excellent, as was the dal and chana masala (chickpeas).

As the restaurant is on the top floor of the wonderful Gardens of Katoubhia hotel, I highly recommend stopping there first to enjoy a cocktail in one of their wonderful poolside seating areas. Especially early evening when the pool and garden are beautifully lit, romantic and relaxing.

As other reviews have remarked, however, whilst the bar itself is also an attractive room to enjoy your cocktails, the absolutely atrocious pianist will put paid to any enjoyment, so best to ask for your drinks to be served well out of earshot. The mojitos area also as good as reported.

Definitely a wonderful way to end a tiring hike around the Médina itself and wind down before enjoying the Indian food in the top floor restaurant if you need a break from tagines!.

I cannot comment on the hotel accommodation itself, as I did not stay there.

“Avoid like The Plague”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 13, 2013

We made the mistake of visiting this place having read the good reviews, what a big mistake! I am of Indian heritage and eat home cooked Indian food at least once a week. I am a frequent international traveller and I have eaten at Indian restaurants across the world from cheap eats to fine dining.

I can honestly say that the food at this restaurant is the worst I have ever had the misfortune of eating in my entire life. It was bland beyond belief, the meat so tough that it might leave you needing dental work and the vegetables and salad tasted weeks old. To add insult to injury the bill was way too expensive, more than likely necessary to cover the costs of the lavish decor. To top it all off I spent the entire night throwing up!

Please do not take any notice of the good reviews if you are an experienced Indian food lover as this food is terrible.

“Calming atmosphere...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 11, 2013

After a tonne of couscous and tajines, we wanted to try something a little different. You reach the restaurant by walking through the beautiful hotel then up in the lift to the third floor.

The view is impressive and walking into the restaurant there is a wonderful calm, which makes a change from the constant crazy that is Marrakech.

Our curries were tasty enough, not amazing, but nice and the beer was cold and decently priced.

The calming atmosphere and excellent service, were the highlights for me. If you're feeling a little frazzled by Marrakech, I'd suggest giving this place a visit.

“Was this Indian food??”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 2, 2013

Ate there today after we were tagined out in Morocco. Food resembles Indian food but the flavors are lacking. Quite frankly it's ok as a break from the Moroccan fare but do not go in with high expectations. Nice ambience. Food gets a C- , ambience gets B+

They should get an indian cook.

Slightly expensive but great tikka masala, chicken satay portions are tiny! . Slightly difficult to find in the hotel. Good service.
