“Excellent!!”
Reviewed March 21, 2013

We stayed here one night and dined in the restaurant. From the beginning to the end it was perfect.
I planned to propose to my girlfriend on the night of the 1st of March 2013 and had asked for a certain dessert and song to be played.
The whole evening planned out as I had asked for you and she said yes!!
A big thank you to Antoine (Resident Manager) & Abdellatif (Restaurant & Bar Manager) that made this a night I will cherish for the rest of my life.
Food was amazing and so was the service, hats off to them all.
We will be back soon!!

“Breakfast of sorts”

Not a great selection for a 5 star hotel, although the staff are very attentive and the food is tasty.

“Good food but very expensive by moroccan standards”
Reviewed January 27, 2013

The L'Orangerie restaurant - and Le Lawrence Bar - are part of the Sofitel Spa and Lounge hotel outside of the city centre. We were staying in the hotel and on the first night arrived late with a young baby so didn't want to venture into the city centre but didn't want to be confined to room service. This was the only place to eat really in the hotel with a baby as the alternative was the SO bar/restaurant but has more of a nightclub feel which doesn't lend itself to children.

The staff were very helpful as we experienced throughout the stay at the Sofitel, but this is only what you should expect as this restaurant (and the hotel) is not cheap and is effectively marketing itself as a premium service. For a one course dinner with 2 glasses of wine (c£7 each) and sparkling water it cost approx £55, so definitely a dinner of convenience rather than choice - although this is the same price if ordered as room service at the hotel.

There are two menus to choose from either French or Moroccan, with a set menu option as well as a la carte. We had the lamb tagine and the fish tagine, both of which were excellent with tender meat and wonderfully spiced.

There is live music in Le Lawrence Bar, which is next to the restaurant which adds to the atmosphere, making it nice and romantic, but would still say that there is very similar food available at much cheaper prices in the rest of Marrakech so wouldnt go out of your way to eat here.

“Disappointing Visit”
Reviewed January 8, 2013

Great food spoiled by poor service. In fact the service was so poor that we didn't leave a tip and the contrast with the service we received in the rest of the hotel was marked.
