Riad Ghemza is situated in the vibrant Medina. The beauty of the Riad is that once you step inside, it is a cool, calm oasis to retreat from the bustling city.

The Riad is nicely furnished, with a light, clean and fresh interior with touches of Moroccan decoration.

The staff are friendly and helpful. Any questions you may have concerning Marrakech or your stay, Fabien (proprietor) is always on hand to assist.

Breakfast is good and varied each day. Fresh fruit, freshly baked breads and cakes are served. Amira's (cook) 1,000 hole pancakes were a lovely treat in the morning. Highly recommended.

Just got back from a great stay in Marrakesh thanks to Riad Ghemza, we booked this trip and flew out just 2 days after completing the Edinburgh marathon. What we really needed was some where clean, calm and easy in order for us to have some much needed R&R. We got exactly that with Rhiad ghemza, Fabain was extremely helpful as most of the other reviewers have mentioned and we were able to chill out in the Riad with a beer (you cant drink alcohol in most of the restaurants on the main square) or go to one of the many recommended restaurants by Fabian which were maximum 15 mins walk away, and of course some shopping in the souks.
I had a peek at some of the other rooms and they all seem really spacious and super clean, the bed was extremely comfortable and really nice to have air-conditioning as it was quite hot whilst we were there. Also there is Wifi.
If you are looking for good value accommodation that feels like a bit of luxury that is centrally located Riad Ghemza is definitely the place.

I was travelling with a group of friends and Riad Ghemza was our first destination in Morcocoo. Arrived off a delayed flight and we were greeted by a taxi driver with our name on a sign who then brought us into the medina. when we got to the point where the taxi couldn't go any further we brought by a local man on foot to our riad door which was opened by the owner Fabien who then sorted out all payments for our transport. the riad is down a small alley and is not somenwhere you would find easily on your own, so having a taxi arranged by the riad was definitely a good decision!

Fabien, the owner, could not have been more helpful. as first-timers in morocco he gave us guidance on prices, places to visit and places to eat. he also booked restaurants for us without any hassle and was always on hand to answer questions. the rooms were lovely and clean with plenty of hot water and the breakfast was the best we had over our whole stay.

I could not fault the riad in any way and would recommend anybody travelling to Marrakech to stay here.

My boyfriend and I have never been away together before and this was our first time without the family. I was looking at different Riads for ages before I found this one. I loved it from the pictures and even more so when I got there. Fabien could not have been any better than he was, he made our stay even better. The rooms are cleaned everyday and the whole Riad is so clean you could eat off the floor. It is very nicely decorated and Fabien has spent alot of time and effort into this Riad. We chose to pay extra for the taxi to get us to the Riad just to make sure we knew everything was booked (taxi drivers in the area will try and charge you double for places you need to go, you just need to tell them that you know the prices and knock them down ,the same as when you are doin shopping). the taxi driver dropped us not far from the Riad as they cannot drive any further and we were greeted by a man who took our bags to the Riad and showed us the way. Fabien was very welcoming and made us feel relaxed as soon as we walked through the door. The souks and the main square are only around a 10 minute walk away. You will get people offering to show you the way but just tell them you know the way as they will ask you for money when you get there. You have to be quite firm with them as they are pesistant. Fabien spent alot of time giving us tips of the area, good places to visit, what to avoid, etc and alot more useful information. Fabien and the Riad really made our visit extra special as he gave us alot of his time, even in the evenings we would all sit down and have a chat and relax after a long day in the sun and shopping. When you go to the square and take pictures of things EG snake charmers and people with monkies they will ask you for money for taking pictures, they will tell you stupid prices like 200dirham but just tell that you will give them less than half + thats final. We really really enjoyed the holiday and Marrakech is a beautiful place. Thank you again Fabien

+++ : Great location, at the heart of a traditional neighbourhood, right next to the souks and to the magnificent medersa Ben Youssef.
The place itself is beautifully and tastefully decorated, with a perfect blend of tradition and innovation.
Great, great service - the manager is very helpful, the hotel spotless and the breakfast delicious. The tub on the rooftop (though not a jaccuzzi) is ideal for a refreshing pause in the afternoon.

My only recommendation : DO take the taxi service from the hotel to get there the first time. It's not easy to find, but this later proves to be one of the great pleasures of the hotel : an oasis of quietness in the middle of the medina.

Our stay at Riad Ghemza was fantastic. At the last minute I had to change my booking in Marrakech and chose Riad Ghemza. I was impressed that one of the hotel owners contacted me via phone. She confirmed the booking, gave me directions, and offered to arrange a taxi to pick me and my husband from the airport. This level of hospitality was great! Unfortunately, we decided to just arrange a taxi ourselves when we arrived. We both speak Arabic, but it was still a hassle and since the riad is in a small passageway, the taxi could not drop us off directly. Thus, as is common in Morocco, kids began to swarm around us and offer to guide us to the riad (for a price, of course). We could not get rid of one of them, and the boy followed us to the riad and demanded money. Fabien, the owner, expertly handled the situation, almost simultaneously welcoming us while calming down the boy. Despite the fact that it was late, Fabien showed us to our room and then personally walked with us to a nearby restaurant where he had reserved us a table. Our room was decorated tastefully and the riad itself is beautiful. The next morning, we were happy to wake to a very complete breakfast. The cook, Amira, was also a wonderful host and made us feel very welcome. After breakfast, Fabien spent almost an hour explaining how to reach different sites in Marrakech and other suggestions. (The riad is in a quiet area, but very convenient to Djemaa El-Fna, about 10-15 minutes walking.) When we returned that night, some of the other guests and Fabien were sitting together talking. Fabien has provided some bottles of wine and we enjoyed the night immensely. They also have a roof hot tub and free wireless, both nice perks. When we left, Fabien arranged a taxi for us and walked us to the taxi stop himself. Over the years, I have stayed at many hotels for business and pleasure. However, this is one of the few places I have stayed where I felt truly like a guest and welcomed. I will most definitely return here if I travel to Marrakech again! Thank you for a wonderful stay!
