“Maison MK. Beautiful riad with excellent food.”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

From our welcome at the door through drinks on the terrace and a wonderful 5 course dinner this was an absolute treat!
After dinner relaxing and sharing experiences with other travellers rounded out a great evening.
Don't miss the cooking courses. We chose the full cooking course and came away content and happy after eating the food we prepared.
All in all, if you are a foodie don't miss it!

“Deserving of its amazing reputation”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

Honestly cannot praise this place highly enough. We found out about it through a newspaper review and didn't think we'd be able to get a reservation at short notice - we picked up a cancellation and I am grateful we did.

The roof terrace for drinks and canapes beforehand is really very special and the staff really put you at ease.
The food itself is absolutely amazing - beautiful combinations, expertly prepared and just the right amount. I loved every course but the cucumber sorbet followed by the fig tirimisu deserve a special mention.
The wine was reasonably priced and the service was excellent.
Nice touch for the chef to come out afterwards to meet the diners.

Thoroughly recommend and only sorry we weren't also staying in the riad which looked beautiful.

“Absolute heaven..”
Reviewed April 7, 2013

Came across this place by chance while walking round the medina in search of a restaurant. We were shown to the terrace for a drink and some nibbles, which offers an impressive view over the rooftops and the koutaba. We were then shown down to the restaurant which is off the main pool area. Meal was a set menu, with five courses, at 55euros. Service was impeccable, attentive but not over the top. Food was divine and portions were just right. Definitely worth a visit, and it does live up to its number 1 spot. Absolutely loved it.

“Cooking course was a highlight of our hol!”
Reviewed April 5, 2013

I was recommended to do the cooking course at Maison MK by a close friend. It wasn't easy to get a booking because they offer it to their hotel guests first and they don't take big groups - it was just me and my boyfriend. That latter point is what makes the course so great. It's tailored to what you want and you get one to one tutoring so my boyfriend's knife skills had really improved by the end. During the course you cook a tagine, make mint tea, bread and traditional Moroccan salads. But first you are taken round the souk to buy all the ingredients including lamb (you can choose chicken, beef or fish), vegetables, spices, nuts, prunes and 5 types of mint for the mint tea. Omar, our fabulous chef, was with us the whole time and because we were with him and a guide we got no hassle. Little touches like taking our bread to a nearby communal bread oven made you feel like you were getting a real Moroccan cooking experience. The best bit though was eating our three course meal on the terrace. We had it all to ourselves. The views are incredible and the food was the best i had the whole time I was in Marrakech. We were given the rest of the spices to take home with us and the recipes for what we had made. I would recommend this to anyone going to the city. It was 130 euros for two people which is an absolute bargain.

“Sublime meal and experience”
Reviewed April 1, 2013

Absolutely essential that you book well in advance as this restaurant is rather special

There are 2 tables around the indoor pool and around 6 tables adjoining the pool. So overall there are not a lot of diners present at any one sitting.

We recommend the tables around the pool as the ambience is even more special there.

The meal consists of 5 courses supplemented with various extra from the chef all for a set price of 55 euros per person. Wine list was adequate and reasonably priced at around 20 euros per bottle for reasonable wine.

The restaurant is the central part of a thoughtfully restored riad tucked away in the old city make sure you get someone to meet you as it can be difficult to find at night.

We started with drinks on the roof top terrace with lovely bouche amuse and them proceeded leisurely to our table downstairs.

The 5 courses were good but the John Dory was overlooked which was a real shame. To be fair the chef apologized at the end of the meal and told us that we should have sent it back, however he should have never sent it out overcooked in the first place.

Overall we enjoyed the meal and the atmosphere. Two minor niggles, at the end of the meal we could. have done with more coffee which was difficult to get from the waiters, and it would have made the meal complete if they had served some local pastries with the coffee.

In conclusion, if you want a special meal with authentic modern Moroccan cooking then I
Would recommend this restaurant, but be prepared to spend around 160 euros for two persons.
