“Convenience eating”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2013

Located on the edge of the main souk area, cafe bougainvillea is suitably placed to escape the tightly packed alleys. The highlights are location and venue; it is a pretty courtyard space - low points were the unwelcoming service and price for an average lunch. Kofta tagine (tasty), chicken & mushroom panini (disappointing) with water and coke came to 171 dhms.

“A Welcome Oasis”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2013

A refuge from the hustle and bustle, and red hot souks. I only had tea but service was excellent and the ambience delightfully cool. I will certainly be back.

“Great value and perfect spot”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013

This is a really well placed restaurant on the edges of the main souks. Once inside it is an oasis of calm. Always busy with people coming and going it is a mystery how so much tasty food can come out of such a modestly sized kitchen so hats off to them. The orange flavoured carrot soup was delicious as was the vegetarian tagine. I would recommend this spot for food or just for a drink. Staff are friendly and food very fresh. Lovely!

“A lovely spot”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2013

A great location and a very pretty courtyard in which to sit especially in the evening when the lights give it an extra sparkle. A small selection of Moroccan food but also pizza and pasta, great if you have kids or want a change. Friendly staff too, the owner came running after us through the souk when my wife left her bag under the table. Definately worth a visit.

“Could do so much better”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2013

Bougainvillea Cafe is in a good location, close to Jemaa el-Fnaa (the main square) and located in a light, airy courtyard which provides a pleasant haven from the bustle on the streets outside. But the food is disappointing. We had vegetables with couscous: the vegetables were tasteless and overcooked and the couscous distinctly uninteresting. Looking at other tables, the alternatives didn't look any more appetising. They could do so much better, and right now so could you.
