“Beautiful riad, wonderful hosts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2010

We travelled to Marrakech recently and had a fantastic stay at the Riad Charlott. The riad itself is a beautiful building. The guest rooms, terrace and courtyard are immaculately presented and very welcoming after a long day exploring the surrounding area. The Charlott is well located and approximately a ten minute stroll to the central square and souks.

Jean Pierre, Ahmed and the rest of the team are perfect hosts and incredibly accomodating. They were always on hand to offer advice or assistance, whether it be for day trips or dinner reservations. We would absolutely recommend a laid back evening in the riad one night - the dinner we had there was great, perhaps the best we enjoyed on our trip. The nearby Le Foundouk and Dar Moha are also lovely.

When our return flight was delayed due to the Spanish air control strike, Jean Pierre and his wife Valerie could not have been more helpful, arranging accomodation for another night and transportation for us and other stranded passengers.

I would absolutely look to stay in the Riad Charlott on a return visit to Marrakech. Many thanks to Jean Pierre and his team for making our time here so enjoyable.

My wife and me stayed at Riad Chalott' 4 nights end of November. We booked Riad Charlott' because of the Tripadvisor-reccommendations - and we have to say this has been the best choice!!!
Just to make it short and simple: A driver (organised by the Riad) picked us up at the airport - without that it would be easy to get lost or not even to find the Riad in the Medina. Closing the door of the Riad behind you, you are in a quiet Oasis in the middle of the Medina; just some minutes walk through the beautiful Souks to the Jema El Fnaa.
Our room Jade has been absolutely gorgeous. A huge room with a wonderful big bed and a bath tub in the middle of the room. We had a Flat Screen TV in our room, which is not a Must, but nice to have. The Riad itself is absolutely fantastic. Clean, quiet, modern and trendy. The rooftop terrace is a wonderful place to relax after the hustle and bustle in the Medina. Actually it looks like a chill-out area on the roof with a view on the Atlas mountains.
The staff is really nice and helpful. Doesn't matter which request - the staff is trying to sort out things for you. And always with a nice smile...
Special thanks goes to Jean-Pierre, which is something like the heart and soul of this Riad. His advices and recommendations what to do and to see, his help in every (also unplanned) situation and his humour made out trip to Marrakech and Riad Charlott an unforgetable holiday. We are really looking forward to come back!!
As mentioned - its just a matter of time when this Riad will be THE Riad in Marrakech!!!

My wife and I spent a long weekend at this Riad on the weekend of 19-21 November to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We had a great time generally in Marrakesh and the quality of our accommodation was an important element.
There are about 5 rooms in the Riad. I think they are all on the first floor. Ground floor has dining room and central courtyard. Top floor is a roof terrace which is higher than most of the houses nearby so you get a good view.
Our room was really good. It was better than it looked in the phoots that I found on the website. Flowers on the bed was a nice touch. The whole place looks and feels like the owners really care about creating a relaxing environment.
The breakfast was simple but tasty; breads and some interesting condiments plus coffee or tea. Some of the other guests ate dinner here and told us it was good.
Jean Pierre looked after us really well. He recommended good restaurants and arranged a trip to the Atlas mountains. He made us feel like we were guests in his house, not like people staying in a small Hotel
We could not have asked for a better place to celebrate 10 years of marriage.
I would recommend this place to any couple wishing to take a short break in an interesting city.

Apologies to JP for the belated review but this was THE most fabulous riad in the centre of Marrakech! I have visited Marrakech 5 times and this was definitely one of the best if not THE best hotel that I have stayed in there.
The riad is in a fab location, just a few minutes from the Musee de Marrakech and only 10 mins' saunter from the main square through the souks. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming, very understanding and helpful if you get lost or have any queries - for example, we wanted to know where to buy the decorations displayed in the riad, we wanted to have beauty treatments and we wanted taxis to the airport and every request was met expertly. The staff were all very welcoming and friendly and couldn't do enough to help - so much so that on our last day we were encouraged to keep hold of our room key and use all the facilities until we were ready to leave the riad at 6pm for our evening flight. This was all offered without any extra charge and was the final perfect gesture in a wonderful stay.
The room was lovely - I was on holiday with a really good female friend and it was a perfect room for the occasion. A nice sized and decorated room, lots of wardrobe space, a lovely bathroom, all looking out on to the main courtyard of the riad. Despite this it was quiet and relaxed. The roof terrace was perfect. It had fabulous views over the city and across to the Atlas mountains, it was an exceedingly pleasant place to spend time by day and by night. We had breakfast up on the terrace and midday snacks and evening aperitifs.
Thank you to everyone at Riad Charlott'! I have a habit of visiting Marrakech every year and I cannot wait to return, both to the beautiful city and the wonderful hotel. Thank you :-)

Charlott' is exactly as its website describes. Lovely courtyard, exceptional roof terrace, very quiet and relaxing and, as there are only a few rooms, we often had these facilities to ourselves - great get-away. The staff are very pleasant, not over attentive or obtrusive but give very good service, at times a little too unobtrusive. Good food, everything homemade - even the jams and yoghurts served at breakfast. They are very happy to arrange trips, massages, etc but at your request, without that feeling that they are trying to sell you something that is common in Marrakech. Bedrooms are well decorated in traditional style and very clean. We were particularly impressed by the big comfy bed. The location is down narrow winding alleyways but in easy walk of all main attractions, we never felt unsafe or threatened even when the alleys were dark.

From the moment you walk in, you are kept in complete luxury and relaxing surroundings away from the madness that is Marrakech.

Jean Pierre and his staff made us feel very welcome as soon as we arrived. It would have been a little hard to find I think, thank goodness we had taken up the offer of a a taxi from the airport. As others have said, we were given a map that really helped us get our bearings.

They are happy to help and make reservations for resaurants, but I would recomend eating in the Riad also. We had a great beef tagine in quiet surroundings sat in the courtyard area in the Riad, absolute bliss.....

The terrace on the roof was amazing and great to watch sunsets from. Also great to relax and escape the craziness....... If I stayed in Marrakech again I would certainly return here.

Many thanks, Neil and Colin.

The riad is very nice, a real oasis of calm from the hustle and bustle of the square. We arrived late at night and were led down dark and increasingly narrowing streets and alleyways so we were very relieved to reach the riad at the end. It is very modern and clean. The staff are all excellent and nothing was too much trouble.
We had breakfast on the terrace every morning which was very nice and set us up for the day. We also had dinner at the riad on our first night which was delicious and beautifully presented. Jean Pierre gave us a map and directions to the square without which we would have definitely got lost!
Bottles of wine are available to buy in the riad which is nice as not many other places serve alcohol, The restaurant next to Cafe France (Restaurant Marrakech I think) up some stairs also serve alcohol and you have a good view of the square. This restaurant was a lot more expensive than most but the food was delicious.
All in all we were very impressed with this riad and would recommend it to a friend.
