A small but very interesting museum with fascinating photos (most from around 1900-1930) of Morocco in days gone by. Well laid out and the roof top cafe is a pleasant place for a drink - they were not serving food when we visited at lunchtime.

“Inspirational!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 25, 2014

As a photographer, I enjoyed this small, but inspirational gallery.
It was quite cheap to enter and they sell food and drink on the top floor.
The gallery was full of great photography from the late 1800's to the mid 1900's. The photographs were both aesthetically and emotionally impressive.
If you're interested in art/photography or want a short break from the madness of Marrakech, this is a nice stop.

Aziz at Riad L'Orangerie recommended that we go here, and we were not disappointed- a great way to get a feel for the cultural history of Morocco - if you like photography, this museum will take your breath away!

“An unmissable portal into the Morocco of the 1890s”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 23, 2014

Contray to TripAdvisor's map, this is not in Fes but in the heart of the Marrakech Medina, just up from Ali Ben Youssef Madrasa.

There are three floors of wonderful photography from around Morocco from the 1890s which give you a sense of just how little the old town has changed (except for the damn motorbikes!).

There is a terrace with a lovely view across the souks and alleyways and you can have a snack while looking over the Atlas mountains.

There is a also a shop selling prints of the photos should you want to take Marrakech home with you.

“Worth a short visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 22, 2014

Super little museum. A simple display of some great old photographs of Morocco dating back to late 1800's spread over a few floors of a traditional Riad. Little cafe on the roof has good view over the roof tops, although the menu very limited. Nice clean loo and good collection of postcards of the photo's on display as well as larger copies on sale. If you do go, look for the herbalist on the way out (towards the school nearby) ~ the best we found in the city, expansive, beautifully laid out. We were served by a charming man, happy to let us browse & explain what things were.
