A very nice location, only a few minutes walk from Djemaa El Fna square and the covered markets. But still far enough from the major roads to be a quiet refuge from the hustle and bustle.
We arrived in the evening and thankfully had pre-booked transfers through the Riad. A taxi to the edge of the square and then a cart for our bags right up to the Riad door. After a few days, finding the place will be like second nature, but when you first arrive and are travel weary, the Square and Rue Dabachi can be a bit of an overload on the senses.
Staff were lovely and very accommodating, on top of the included lovely breakfasts if you don't feel like eating out they were quite happy to cook other meals as requested (for a small charge added to your bill). With so many places we wanted to try we never ended up eating anything other than breakfasts in the Riad. We did however enjoy mint tea on the beautiful roof terrace on a few occasions.
When we stayed there it coincided with Eid Al Adha so the owner was away visiting Family. Though she was out of town we spoke over the telephone on a few occasions as she wanted to make sure we were enjoying our stay, which I thought was very nice of her.
The girl left running the place spoke both Arabic and French but not English, unfortunately my Arabic never advanced much beyond primary school level and my French, not much further. Luckily she was very forgiving of my French and we muddled through just fine.
The rooms are clean and simple, exactly want I want when I'm on holiday and there are only about 6 rooms in the Riad so it makes the whole experience more personal.
They also have their own Sauna and mini Hammam in the Riad available for a small charge, didn't try the Sauna but the Hammam was nice, after an explanation of the scrubs and scents available you're left to it. Preferable if you don't want to split up to go to one on the larger, sometimes crowded, segregated Hammams in the area.
To sum up we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Marrakech and are glad we chose to stay at the Riad Radia. If we ever go back to Marrakech I would like to stay here again.
