Coming back to Riad Timila for a second visit only served to reinforce my initial sentiments that this is indeed a very special place to stay in Marrakech. From being met at the airport, shown to the Riad and then to THE most beautiful rooms makes the cares of the world slip away. I felt looked after in a way I don't normally experience at other places. Drinks, nibbles, meals all seem to materialise throughout the day and help with booking restaurants, taxis and printing boarding passes is unobtrusively on hand in the form of the charming, efficient and thoughtful Brahim.
I used the tv room in the evening to watch DVDs, the roof terrace to sunbathe in the December heat (!) and the upper terrace to sit with a drink and watch the sun going down over this magical medina. My friends booked hamman and massages in the treatment suite on the rooftop and they said they were excellent. They certainly looked very clean and relaxed when they came out.
The bedrooms total six I believe and are all very individual and beautifully decorated with antiques. The beds are modern and fresh with crisp linens and good pillows. Speaking of the latter I had to ask for a couple of hypoallergenic pillows as feathers make me wheeze and these were on my bed in the blink of an eye. Water bottles on the bedside tables, coffee in the morning in bed if you desire and a hot water bottle to take to bed are just a few of the details which make the stay so perfect.
The meals are probably the most delicious to be had in Marrakech. Cheese scrambled egg for breakfast with fruit salad, pastries and freshly squeezed juice kick off the day on the roof terrace. Lunches offer a varied selection of salads and veg with a small cheese selection and possibly some warm lentils. We always had one meal out of the riad but the evening meals that we did have in were superior in quality to the restaurants visited and the ambiance was definitely more fun. Wine and beer and soft drinks were available from the kitchen on the roof and added to the bill at the end.
In a nutshell I can't recommend this beautiful riad highly enough. I just came from a Thursday- Monday but feel rejuvenated and refreshed. It is as if the sunny days combined with the spoiling experience of Riad Timila have recharged my british winter batteries and I feel I can face what the next few months will throw at me weather wise when I return to London. Thank you everyone at Riad Timila! I feel very lucky to have been able to stay with you.
