“Great place to stay in the heart of it all!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2014

We stayed here for 3 nights at the beginning of January following a weeks stay at Eden Andalou All Inclusive just outside Marrakech. We were travelling to Morocco for the 1st time with children aged 9 and 8 and wanted to get the balance of a relaxing week, where the kids could swim in the pool, and going home having seen some of the real Marrakech, by being in the heart of the Medina. We got the shuttlebus into town & found the Riad about 10 mins walk from the square which was great. As others have said Karmel greets you with Mint Tea & a chat about the area - having encountered the alleys on the way to the Riad full of mopeds a useful piece of advice he gave us was to make sure you walk on the right!!Through Karmel we took a day trip to the Atlas Mountains - he came as our guide and hired us a minibus for the day so we could do things at our own leisure - we went to a Pottery, Berber House, Aromatic Gardens and then took us for a walk up the Waterfalls in the Ourika Valley followed by Lunch by the river - what a fab day out - the kids loved it, especially Jack who saw the Monkies with Karmel on the way back down. The Riad was great, breakfasts & dinner both lovely, the purple room was very nice and we loved sitting on the roof terrace in the sunshine. All the staff were friendly - we loved Marrakech and would definately return to this Riad - on our last day a Taxi was organised for us to take us back to the airport. Many Thanks to you all.

Just got back from a long weekend in Marrakech, We booked this hotel through a KGB deal which was fantastic value for money and then just booked our own Easyjet flights. We were met at the airport by a taxi which was arranged by the riad and only took about 15 minutes to get there. We were greeted by Karmel and shown to our rooms to unpack, then met up with him again for mint tea and a brief chat about things we needed to know. Our rooms were lovely, clean with plenty of hot water and a powerful shower. Unfortunately the weather over the weekend wasn't great so we couldn't do a trip to the Atlas Mountains which he would have arranged but he told us other places to visit and also gave us a map which was invaluable! As it was raining, our meal that night and breakfast every morning was in a marquee on the terrace, it was lovely and also had patio heaters to keep us warm. Breakfast consisted of freshly squeezed orange juice, coffee, croissants, pancakes, rolls, jams, all really nice and a good way to start the day, The riad is a 10 minute walk to the square and we didn't get lost once! The first day we spent walking around the souk and dodging the rain! The second day we got the bus tour which took us to the new part of town, we were really pleased we didn't stay there as it was just like any other city and a bit soulless. If you want to experience the real Marrakech then you have to stay in the Medina and you won't go wrong at the Riad Zayane Atlas,

What an amazing find. We booked this holiday as part of a KGB deal with easy jet flights and can't find fault with anything. We were collected by a taxi organised by the riad who was brilliant. Kamal met us and showed us to our room and then we chatted on the terrace wih mint tea. He is such a brilliant guy and I cannot explain how much this guy makes the holiday. He completely looked after us and the trip to Atlas is a must, he's a brilliant tour guide!

This riad is perfectly located in the medina and close to the main square. Don't be scared by reviews of Marrakech, be sensible and enjoy!

If westerners want a little drink (alcoholic....) La Salama near the riad has a Brilliant sky bar.

Had a brilliant time, and we will see you next year!

We spent a wonderful 7 days at Riad Zayane Atlas. Cannot fault this riad in any way. The riad owners and fellow travellers were fantastic; it really felt like a home from home. The service was fantastic and the location perfect for us.

We stayed at the Riad for three nights and had a wonderful visit.

The Riad arranged a taxi to collect us at the airport and within 20 mins we were in our room. The Riad itself is in the heart of the city walls and a 5 minute walk from the Place Jemaa el-Fnaa with the market and souks.

We were greeted by Babette the owner and shown to our room. When ready we went to the roof terrace and were treated to a nice pot of mint tea which was very refreshing.

On our first night we had arranged for the Riad to provide a meal and we were served a fantastic chicken tajine, Moroccan salad, breads and melon. Definitely our best meal of the trip!

Like the evening meal, breakfast is served on the roof terrace and comprises of freshly squeezed orange juice, tea, coffee, bread, pancakes, pastries, butter, orange marmalade and honey. Really nice and a good start to the day. The food is prepared by two lovely ladies who are ever smiling.

The roof terrace is partially covered in a Berber style awning and provides shade from the Sun with nice comfortable seating.

The Riad is a sea of tranquility in the hustle and bustle of the city. It is beautifully decorated and is nice and cool, we never used the air conditioning in the bedroom despite the outside temperature being in the high 20's/low 30's. Wi-fi freely available in the the room and on the terrace.

We took a trip to the Atlas Mountains which was arranged by the wonderful Kamal who was also the guide for the trip. Together with the driver (sorry that I have forgotten his name) we had a great and fun trip to the Ourika Valley. Along the way we had a camel ride, a visit to a herbal garden, nice lunch, a climb up the waterfalls and a visit to a traditional Berber house. We can definitely recommend this trip and is a full day from 9am to 6.30pm.

Enough cannot be said about Kamal, what a wonderful man he is! Kamal looked after our every need and couldn't do enough for us.

If you are looking for a different experience to the big hotels, close to the action with wonderful people looking after you then this is the place to stay.

Highly recommended.

We stayed for two night one before and one after trekking in the Atlas Mountains, the Riad was booked for us, so cant comment on the cost. The location of the Riad is excellent for two reasons, first its only a 2 minute walk from the car park that the taxi drops you off at, second its only a 10 minute walk to the Medina. There are a lot of Riads that are miles away from the nearest taxi drop of point, think about this before you book anywhere and end up paying someone to guide you to your Riad.

I would get the hotel to arrange a taxi from the airport which they will do, the taxi fare is 100 dirhams, they will also take you from the car park to the Riad. They will organise a taxi to the airport when you leave as well. Our taxi ended up being the Riads owner.

All the staff are polite and helpful, they didn't try to sell us tours, they just let us be, which was nice as everyone in Marrakech tries to sell you something. There is free wifi, air con in the rooms, nice terrace, half covered if its to hot. You cant really go wrong with this Riad to be honest.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front are noisier but have natural light, rooms at back are quieter but don't have...
