We stayed at the Riad for three nights and had a wonderful visit.
The Riad arranged a taxi to collect us at the airport and within 20 mins we were in our room. The Riad itself is in the heart of the city walls and a 5 minute walk from the Place Jemaa el-Fnaa with the market and souks.
We were greeted by Babette the owner and shown to our room. When ready we went to the roof terrace and were treated to a nice pot of mint tea which was very refreshing.
On our first night we had arranged for the Riad to provide a meal and we were served a fantastic chicken tajine, Moroccan salad, breads and melon. Definitely our best meal of the trip!
Like the evening meal, breakfast is served on the roof terrace and comprises of freshly squeezed orange juice, tea, coffee, bread, pancakes, pastries, butter, orange marmalade and honey. Really nice and a good start to the day. The food is prepared by two lovely ladies who are ever smiling.
The roof terrace is partially covered in a Berber style awning and provides shade from the Sun with nice comfortable seating.
The Riad is a sea of tranquility in the hustle and bustle of the city. It is beautifully decorated and is nice and cool, we never used the air conditioning in the bedroom despite the outside temperature being in the high 20's/low 30's. Wi-fi freely available in the the room and on the terrace.
We took a trip to the Atlas Mountains which was arranged by the wonderful Kamal who was also the guide for the trip. Together with the driver (sorry that I have forgotten his name) we had a great and fun trip to the Ourika Valley. Along the way we had a camel ride, a visit to a herbal garden, nice lunch, a climb up the waterfalls and a visit to a traditional Berber house. We can definitely recommend this trip and is a full day from 9am to 6.30pm.
Enough cannot be said about Kamal, what a wonderful man he is! Kamal looked after our every need and couldn't do enough for us.
If you are looking for a different experience to the big hotels, close to the action with wonderful people looking after you then this is the place to stay.
