I stayed at this Riad for a holiday in November 2009. I was joining some friends who were backpacking so we were looking for accommodation on a budget and we chose Riad Rouge as it seemed like great value and the pictures looked lovely.
It was by far one of the best places I have ever stayed. Fran and Abdullah (who run the Riad) treat all their guests like family and get to know everyone really well. There are four other members of staff who are all absolutely charming and will provide as much free tea as you can possibly drink!
We met lots of great people at Riad Rouge and several nights turned into parties on the roof terrace while we were there (the Riad sells beer which helps things along a bit!)
Fran and Abduallah can point you in the right direction for whatever you want to do in Marrakesh - make sure you go to the local traditional hammam a few doors down (you won't find it without a few directions). It's one of my best experiences of Morocco. The Riad is really central so it's easy to get to everywhere.
There are some popular trips which you can take from Marrakesh. We went treking in the High Atlas mountains (amazing! Definitely do it!) and on a 3 day trip to the Sahara (the Sahara bit was great but it's a VERY long journey. I would recommend doing the 2 day trip instead as we didn't really see anything that fun on our extra day).
Riad Rouge is fairly new so they're still getting to grips with a few bits and pieces. They were in the process of building a second toilet whilst I was there so there was a bit of queuing! Some rooms are ensuite though if you want something a little more convenient. Any teething issues are completely overshadowed by the wonderful atmostphere though.
I would 100% recommend Riad Rouge. A lovely Riad with a lovely ambience and great value for money.
