I booked a room at Riad El Warda through Airbnb 6 months before my trip to Marrakech. During the course of those 6 months, the owner Anna and I communicated occasionally via messages. In addition to renting the room to us, she said she would organize a tour to the desert for myself and my husband.
Everything was going well until 2 days before our arrival. I messaged her asking to confirm the contact number in case our flight was delayed. She wrote back much later saying "due to a technical problem, we can't host you at Riad El Warda." She said she would book a room for us at another riad and that our tour would still be going as promised, but she hadn't provided any details regarding the tour yet. She claimed that the other riad was a "higher level riad" and that it was more expensive, but we'd get it at the same price as we paid for her room.
After much prodding that lasted into the next day, I discovered this "technical problem" was that she had been able to rent her entire riad to a group at the last minute for more money than she would get from just renting us one room. Anna was hoping I wouldn't cancel the reservation, allowing Airbnb to deposit the money into her account that they were holding in escrow. She said she would then take the money and give it to the other riad. I later learned that the other riad was actually cheaper than what we had paid to Airbnb, contrary to her statements.
I questioned her as to whether she had actually booked our desert tour, since she hadn't told us any information about the company we would be travelling with. She asked me to trust her and told us the tour would be with a group called "Happy Tour Marrakech". When the morning of the tour arrived, our guide thankfully showed up on time, but he was not an employee of Happy Tour Marrakech. He said he had been contacted the night before - and had been asked to take us because no one at that tour group was available to be our guide, despite Anna supposedly booking our trip months in advance.
I said to Anna that in the future she should mention to her guests that it is possible she will cancel on them at the last moment if a more profitable reservation becomes available, but she would not respond to this, saying only general statements like, "Our priority is the happiness and the safety of our guests". While this seems like a lovely place to stay from the reviews I've read, if you would prefer stability and honesty when booking your vacation, seek accommodations elsewhere.
