“Gorgeous riad”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2012

Just got back from Morocco - we stayed at this Riad for 3 nights after trekking in the Atlas mountains for 4 days. I would definitely recommend it as a great place to stay. The location is perfect - less than 10 minutes to the main square & the riad itself is stunning and very relaxing. Defintely the perfect place to retreat to after the mayhem of the souks! The riad was also very good at responding to emails / questions prior to our arrival which was very helpful. We tried the hammam there which I would recommend as it leaves you feeling super clean! Many thanks to Abdul, Madame Flam & all the rest of the staff for making our stay so enjoyable:)

Some friends and I recently stayed at Riad Flam and it is a beautiful and tranquil place. It is on the edge of the main area but still very close to the center square and it was great to stay away from the craziness and retreat back here. Upon arrival we were greeted and given some lovely mint tea and Moroccan biscuits while doing our paperwork. The Rooms were lovely as is the entire riad with a very nice outdoor area that we enjoyed sitting in for the afternoon reading our books and drinking mojitos after we had had treatments at the onsite spa facilities.

The food is lovely and the breakfasts were divine. We had dinner at the rooftop terrace one night and it was a beautiful lamb, prune and almond Tagine that was to die for.

The only difficult thing about Riad Flam is that the owner only speaks french so while trying to check out we were unable to communicate so had to wait for the other gentleman who spoke English to come back so that we could do all the paperwork but we had also had problems communicating with her at other times.

Other than that I would highly recommend Riad Flam as a great place to stay.

We had a wonderful time here! The rooms were lovely and the communal areas very peaceful! One thing to note is the owner is French and not much English is spoken with the staff but they are very friendly , and the pool is only a plunge pool,

Great location away from the hussle and bustle but within walking distance

Excellent moijitos and great massages!

This was our first experience of staying in a Riad, and I can honestly say this will not be our last, from the moment we stepped through the beautifully carved wooden front door into Riad Flam you can feel the warmth & tranquility, Flam & her wonderful staff are professional & welcoming,The Riad was beautiful to the eye, furniture sumptuous & inviting, rooms furnished to a high standard & was a pleasure to return to at the end of a day walking around the busy Souks. We had our first evening meal at Riad Flam & I can say compliments again to the chef the meal was faultless. The roof trerrace was peacful & picturesque, just what anyone would love after a busy day. Flam, Abdul & Naima we can not thank you enough for making our 1st trip to Morroco complete, we hope to see you all again soon, Health, Happiness & Love from Vina & Mike xx (Ivory Room)

This riad is so beautiful and the staff treat you like royalty. Although we were at first worried because of the location (in the midst of the medina), the beauty and cleanliness of the riad, and helpfulness of the staff totally squashed any fears. The breakfast was delicious and in a beautiful setting every morning up on the terrace. We requested a Friday evening traditional meal of couscous and were served the most delicious dinner! We highly recommend the Riad Flam!

Room Tip: The first floor rooms may not be as quiet as the 2nd because they open right up onto the courtyard.

We spent one week and experienced 1001 nights! Superb traditional maroc food, extraordinary service (they really can read your mind!) and oriental hammam and massages made our stay to a dream. The riad is restored and furnished in an lovely and beautiful way, modern and traditional in the same way.The rooms are very quiet and spacious. We had booked "la perle", the smallest of all rooms, and it was absolutely lovely for a one week´s stay.

The Riad is located perfectly in the medina close to all important sight seeing spots, that you easily can reach by foot. The neighborhood is very calm and safe. And taking a sun bath on the roof terrasse makes you believe that you are somewhere far away from the city.

The staff will organize everything that makes a stay pleasant and comfortable: Such as shuttle service from/to the airport, restaurant recommendations and reservations, local tour guides (english, french, german spanish speaking), etc.

Try it, and you will be amazed and absolutely satisfied.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 13, 2012

Just returned yesterday from a lovely and exciting week in Marrakech. The Riad really is beautiful, courtyard very nice and jacuzzi bath on the roof terrace. We had the Sand Rose room but whilst beautifully decorated, it was oh, so tiny - we could hardly move around in it. Suitcase had to be stored upstairs. As noted in another comment, we had no TV but to be honest we were not expecting one and there really was not any room to put one either. On a couple of nights we were very cold, especially the first two on arrival. There was a remote control in the room for heating/air conditioning but there was no unit (and we searched the room for it) and we could not get warm at all on the 1st 2 nights.

The staff were very helpful and yes they could not do enough for you but an observation rather than a complaint - it would be lovely to have had tea/coffee making facilities available to guests in the lounge area just off the courtyard. Sometimes when there is not staff visible it would have been nice to be able to make your own coffee and especially when you come in late at night, it would be a real nice touch. I understand there is none of these facilities in any of the rooms but it is something that would have been appreciated and with no real expense to the Riad as to purchase drinks, food tea/coffee is quite expensive.

Our bathroom was really lovely and the shower was a great big power shower, fantastic in the mornings but we never seemed to be able to get hot water for a shower in the evenings, so after a hot sticky day out and about, we could not shower. Whilst these are only minor niggles, I would certainly recommend the Riad for a lovely stay.

Another observation was that the reception area did not have any kind of local information/literature with regard to places of interest /to visit. So if people did not bring along a guide book they would have struggled. English is not widely spoken so if you have basic french, you will need to brush up on it or take an electronic translator - I forgot to take mine along unfortunately and struggled to be understood.

Overall, a really lovely Riad with heavy carved doors and plush furnishings, just the little niggles that let it down for us, but definately go there. I am sure you will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: You might have to pay a bit more for one of the slightly larger rooms - the Sand Rose and I believe...
