We spent a very relaxing three days in the Riad Alamanda, which is perfectly situated (about 5 minutes walk from Place Jamaa El Fna). It was our second time in Marrakech and we much preferred staying in a riad to a hotel. It was much more authentic and the riad owner was able to advise us where to eat and what to see, as someone who has lived in Morocco for many years and knows and understands the culture. The riad itself is down an alley off of one of the main "roads" from the main square. The "road" is passable by donkey, horse, the odd 4x4, motorbikes, scooters and men with carts! The kids thought it was great and got used to the hustle and bustle and being asked to move in because a horse and cart wanted to get by. Yet behind the door to the riad there was an amazing oasis of calm, very tastefully furnished. The staff at the riad were not only knowledgeable but were also welcoming and friendly. On our first night we enjoyed a memorable meal prepared by the riad, in fact it was one of the best meals we had. We thoroughly recommend the riad, especially if it's your first time in Morocco or you are travelling alone. The staff at the riad will definitely take care of you and ensure that have a great holiday.
