Nice riad near the main square. Steps to shopping and restaurants. Clean rooms. Nice courtyard. Breakfast is delicious (and included!). Like everything in Morroco, beware of your business transactions, everyone appears as your friend but there's money behind everything. Hotel manager offered bottles of water (acting as if it was included) but of course charged a nice sum for it on our bill out. All in all it was a nice stay and the experience of the medina was exhilerating!

We spent a very relaxing three days in the Riad Alamanda, which is perfectly situated (about 5 minutes walk from Place Jamaa El Fna). It was our second time in Marrakech and we much preferred staying in a riad to a hotel. It was much more authentic and the riad owner was able to advise us where to eat and what to see, as someone who has lived in Morocco for many years and knows and understands the culture. The riad itself is down an alley off of one of the main "roads" from the main square. The "road" is passable by donkey, horse, the odd 4x4, motorbikes, scooters and men with carts! The kids thought it was great and got used to the hustle and bustle and being asked to move in because a horse and cart wanted to get by. Yet behind the door to the riad there was an amazing oasis of calm, very tastefully furnished. The staff at the riad were not only knowledgeable but were also welcoming and friendly. On our first night we enjoyed a memorable meal prepared by the riad, in fact it was one of the best meals we had. We thoroughly recommend the riad, especially if it's your first time in Morocco or you are travelling alone. The staff at the riad will definitely take care of you and ensure that have a great holiday.

This was a nice place to start our holiday.
Briefly I remember the breakfast being one of the better ones we had for holiday, with lovely jams.
Because the Riad is at the end of a narrow alleyway, there was no street noise, important if you have just done 32 hours of flying.
The room was spacious as well as the bathroom.
The hosts didn't speak english, but they were helpful.
Beware of the main street coming off the main Square! At one point it is very narrow. The pick pockets use it to their advantage, buy blocking the street and causing a crush of people. We got caught and lost a camera.

A deceptively small Riad from the outside, this Riad was a pleasant surprise. The owner went out of her way to look after us. She even escorted us back from a restuarant on our first night as we were concerned we'd get lost along the maze-like roads. Clean rooms, and minutes away from the main square. I'd recommend it!
