“Very special venue, wonderful staff, amazing food, fantastic intimate wedding.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 12, 2011

I chose Riad Zamzam as the venue for our Moroccan wedding reception based on fantastic food reviews and wasn't disappointed even catering en masse for 27 people (including 2 vegetarians and 1 vegan).
We stayed for a week and were treated like royalty, every wish granted. We were travelling with young children who were entertained by the very friendly staff, fussy eaters catered for, dozens of bottles prepared, last minute baby-sitting requests fulfilled.
The location is within walking distance of the main sights but far enough to avoid the noise. You still get dogs barking in the middle of the night and call to prayer but not much can be done about that.
Staff very helpful in arranging day trips, restaurant bookings, all transport.
The Hamam was fantastic (however the therapist doesn't speak English if you have special requirements).
I love the décor, very luxurious, lots of attention to detail and very peaceful ambience but still very Moroccan - all locally sourced. Also super place for a party in the evening with stunning lighting and different spaces to use i.e. snug room/courtyard/terrace/balcony.
There was difficulty arranging rooms. I specifically asked not to stay in one room and ended up spending one night in there before being moved to our desired room.
The welcome book says fresh fruit & water in the room replenished daily. Only fruit were oranges in the courtyard & water replenishment was slack. I'm sure this would have been addressed had I brought it up.
Very special venue, wonderful staff, amazing food, fantastic intimate wedding.

Thank you for the wonderful review and we are happy to have made your wedding weekend special, we really enjoyed it too.

There was a problem with your requested suite on the first night, I just wanted to add that we did give you a room of charge in compensation.

Regarding fruit we are no longer providing this in rooms but will provide on request. I will change the website so this is clear. We found that the fruit was attracting flies so have decided not to put it in guest rooms. We are still providing Moroccan patisserie.

Went to this lovely family-fun riyad for a long weekend. We were met by the very friendly European owners who settled us in with a quick tour of the riyad and a refreshing drink of mint tea. We were given information on the local area and our food requirements were discussed. A large group of family members had dinner that night in the open courtyard. The atmosphere was brilliant and the home-cooked Morrocan food was truly delicious. The bedroom was very authentic and the bed comfortable. Would definitely go again and would recommend to friends and family.

My boyfriend and I enjoyed a fantastic three nights at Zamzam. From the moment we arrived we knew we had picked the right riad to stay. We were welcomed with fresh mint tea and the staff provided us with a tour of the riad. As we arrived in the morning and were keen to get exploring, they sat down with us and went through the map of the area highlighting good restaurants and cafes and the best way to get to the souks. We chose not to have a guide but the riad does provide reliable guides if we had wished.
The rooms were lovely; we stayed in the Rose room which had a magnificent bathroom. The roof terrace was a great place to chill out in the sunshine and the staff are more than happy to serve you drinks or food there as you wish. The breakfast is included and was delicious - tea, coffee, orange juice, fresh fruit, fresh yoghurt, local bread and preserves and omelette.
Nothing was too much trouble for the staff - they were always on hand to help but without being intrusive.
The riad is situated at the Northern end of the medina and it is about a 15 minute walk to the centre where all the souks are. In the evenings if you book a taxi with the riad, they walk you to and from the taxi (cars can only get to certain parts of the medina because of the narrow streets) which was a great service.
All in all, we would definitely go back!

We rented the entire riad for a 40th celebration...we had family of all ages from 5 - 75. I can't say enough about our stay. From the cozy bedrooms, to the rooftop hammam, to the wonderful food and AMAZING staff. While the riad is close to everything, we enjoyed just staying there..sitting on the roof terrace and lounging around. On a couple of evenings we had the meals prepared in--and the intimacy and quality topped anything we might get out.
All in all I have nothing but wonderful things to say about ZamZam... no hesitations here. If you want cozy, authentic and luxurious... book away.

We went to Marrakech to celebrate my girlfirends 30th Birthday, I chose the ZAMZAM riad because all the reviews were excellent and the price was competative. The riad is a beautiful oasis of peace, tranquility and relaxation in a chaotic but great city! (oh and the food was superb too, all products are bought fresh everyday!) The owners and staff were fantastic, they made us feel very welcome and were very attentive. We stayed four nights, On one of the days we got lost in the maze of alleyways that make up this facinating city, we called the riad and one of the staff came and found us and walked us back Ifantastic service). We really enyjoyed our stay here and would definately recommend this place to anyone thinking of going to Marrakech.

The Riad Zam Zam is an experience that just get's better and better the longer you stay. The trip was a surprise for my partners birthday who is very well travelled so i wanted an experience that would match a seasoned travellers expectations. I couldn't have wished for anything more! Imane and her team gave us the very best traditional Riad experience we could have hoped for. The whole experience flowed with precision and care of the staff. All of our trips and destinations were organised by the riad which took the stress out of shopping around for the best deals and experience. I recommend the Riad Zam Zam without reservation. Thank you to Martin /Emma/ Imane and the team.

Room Tip: All the rooms are good so just relax!

A quiet comfortable oasis in the Medina. You are in the old city and so should expect to see an old city and we are not talking Rome. The Riad was very comfortable inside - and a huge contrast to the outside. The staff were wonderful and couldn't have done more for us both in the Riad and helping with touring. The massage / Hamaam was a real experience as well as very refreshing and relaxing - a cultural must do! Food was typically Moroccan for the three nights that we ate in and the rest of the time the staff and the owners steered us towards really great places to visit and eat. You will need Ibrahim the Guide to show you around the Souks (market) and you will get lost on your own afterwards but it won't matter because everyone will want to show you the way home for 50 to 100 Dirhams. It's their way of making a living but I did find it quite intimidating to begin with until I got used to it and learnt how to say no politely and yes when I needed the help (I'm just too British!).
We stayed for a week and I think could have fitted in a two/three day trip into the desert quite comfortably - there is only so much market shopping you can take! We did the journey to the Toubkal Kasbah, in which you will visit every type of craft 'shop' you can think of. Spend the money - they need it - but haggle like there is no tomorrow - they love to win and they always do but you'll feel like you did well.

I really liked the people of Marrakech and the hardest thing was overcoming my ignorance. At the end of every day the Riad was a haven of peace, tranquility and comfort in which to consolidate the day's experiences and plan the next.

Thanks to Marcus (owner) and Imane and Faisal for their kindness and understanding.

Room Tip: All Riad rooms face inwards to the courtyard
