“Fabulous hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2012

This was our first trip to Morrocco and having travelled in Tunisia and Egypt I can say that the people are some of the friendliest you will meet. Yes the Souk has a reputation and there are a small minority that you have to watch out for but thats the same in any country.
The hotel is fantastic and I wouldn't hesitate to go back. You show respect to the staff and they will look after you really well.
The hotel is very well run, clean, well maintained gardens. Rooms are huge and cleaned daily. Only slight issues were that the corridors were noisey with cleaner early in the morning trying to keep the place spotless and the gardeners do start mowing quite early.
We had room 5105 overlooking the pool with the backdrop of the snow covered atlas mountains.
Masses of food to suit everyones taste, local drinks that were drinkable. There is even a free shuttle bus to and from the town

Room Tip: 5105 great room

Marrakech

We were on a Two centre holiday Four nights in Marrakech from 26 – 30th March 2012 and Seven nights in Agadir this was on an all inclusive basis, this first review is for Marrakech.

Arrived at the Clubhouse Riu Tikida Palmarie Hotel to a warm welcome. This hotel is very nice and relatively new, I think about Three years old. We had to fill in those silly little forms, trying to fill them in at the same time as everyone else for the hotel, virtually the same as the one’s you fill in on the plane when flying into Morocco. This done we were told where our room was located a lovely walk through the gardens of the hotel there are a couple of large fish ponds with lots of koi carp and past a small herb garden to our room.

Our room was big and very clean, shower over the bath with a separate toilet, the room was cleaned and fresh towels left every day also two bottles of water room had fridge, ample electric plug points a massive bed I think a queen size. Hairdryer in bathroom.

Outside the gardens are immaculate, nice to walk around, the outdoor and indoor swimming pool were fine also the gym well equipped and modern, also plenty of sun beds available.

We were staying on an all inclusive basis food was excellent at this hotel also no problems with the drinks, there are Two extra restaurants one Moroccan and one Italian you book them when you have your breakfast the waiter will come around and ask if you want to book it’s free, the staff at the hotel are very pleasant and polite. Not a lot to do outside of the hotel you’re in the middle of no-where, the hotel reps (Two of them) told us there was a restaurant / café next to the petrol station a short walk down the street from the hotel and over the road from the petrol station is a large cash and carry type shop called the Metro.

Just a little warning about the restaurant / café if you are female and you decide to go and try something to eat or drink from here cover your shoulders what the reps didn’t tell us was there is a small mosque at the side of the restaurant, my wife had a strappy top on and was getting a few looks from the men going into the mosque to prey.

The hotel is a lovely place I’ve only got one complaint if you want a drink inside at the bar there is smoking allowed almost everywhere in the hotel even in the reception area. The only place where there is no smoking is the theatre where the evening entertainment takes place but the entertainment only lasts about an hour each evening.

Used the hotel’s shuttle bus a couple of times to get to the centre of Marrakech and is fine just book it up at the reception, if you go to the centre (Medina) and you’ve not been before be prepared to get blown away it’s like stepping back in time and it’s a crazy mental place which I loved. Also went on the open top tour bus which takes you all over the best parts of Marrakech you get ear phones when you purchase your ticket and the commentary is in all languages and is a must you can get on and off at plenty of places and the ticket lasts for 24 hours.

Just come back from staying a week at the Riu Tikida Palmerie, we really liked the large room and lovely hot shower/bath and seperate loo all very clean, we had to request and pay for tea making facilites. The breakfast was the best choices of the day with fresh omelettes and eggs cooked by the chef as the large choice for lunch and dinner did not vary much but was very nice. The staff were fantastic and waiting staff very well mannered and very helpful. I highly recommend the moroccian themed restaurant but you must book as soon as you can. Lovely fresh coffees available all day and different teas.

Sun beds are put out from 7am so no late night bed reserving and the attendant helps you find beds and keeps a stock of beds at the back so everyone gets one, outside pool is beautiful but freezing.

The resident cats are well feed and no trouble and was pleased to see they didnt beg or steal from unattended food.

The only trip we took was the Calache by Night which i wouldnt recommend it was very scary travelling by horse carrage in a very busy hectic makeshift highway and when you stop your made to go to a cafe to purchase a drink then walked slowly through a smoky food hall where your having everyones menu thust under your nose to sit down and eat.

The day activites were a lot of exercise classes with volley ball, darts and french boules, the night time i found very poor the nightly show was sorry to say was boring but fun if you have children, the lobby bar did not have any atmosphere very loud and smokey which showed football most nights and there are no shops outside the hotel to walk to if you like a browse in the evening. The only on site shop is very expensive and closes at 7pm, i did make the mistake of buying a magazine for £7!!!, there is a little used book library which helped for passing the time. I would return to Morocco as soon as i can but will stay somewhere less remote.

Room Tip: Our room was in the 4000 block, its close to the pool but not directly looking over so peaceful but...

Got back on the 9th April after a lovely week at the palmeraie with my best friend. Well what can I say, most things being covered in other reviews. The rooms are lovely and well kept and very clean, also a good touch to give you water everyday throughout your stay. You won't go hungry throughout the week but I will say there is not too much choice and often the same night after night. We did try the Moroccan restaurant but it wasn't for us, not keen on Moroccan food, my friend tried lambs brain but it wasn't for me!!! There is also an Italian but didn't get the chance to go in this.
The pool area is lovely and very big and well equipped with sunbeds but on a really hot day they do go quickly, only thing I saw to moan about around the pool was that the self service drinks soon ran out and needed changing but the staff were too busy in the pool bar to do this and often needed reminding.

The worst thing really about this hotel for me is the entertainment is the same every night, children's disco and then the manager singing the same old songs, I knew every song word for word by the time I left!! I did enjoy my time in Marrakech and this is a good riu hotel and I would like to go back at a later date.

we wanted to try morocco and we where so pleased we found this hotel ,we where greeted by the entertainment team with a fruit cocktail on arrival, the staff where very helpful from start to finish and they always appeared happy and always eager to help, the entertaiment team where amazingly energetic and kept anyone who wanted to be entertained fully occupied.the children which by the way we dont have any small children now had the best time with all mentioned,i know my kids would of been thrilled to of been a part of this, the food was so organized i was stunned by the enormity of the feasts which aweaited our every meal we had no complaints at all everything was tastey well cooked and beware of the pastries, and cakes that where to die for,the rooms where spacious and nicely decorated the standard of cleanliness was 2nd to none, well done ladies ,the gardens with the beautiful flora and fauna where lovely to walk around, all areas where spotlessly clean,we would most definetly recommend this hotel to couples and families i should add that the hotel was full and when you make your way to your room there is not a sound so peaceful

Room Tip: they are all good ,

We've just returned from a great week away. We thoroughly recommend this hotel as the staff just make it so special. We travelled with our 9-year old son and were worried that there wouldn't be enough things for him to do. We shouldn't have worried - he loved the warm indoor pool, tennis and boules. There was plenty to keep him entertained, including the evening show! We went on several trips with the camel riding being the highlight for us. We also enjoyed the Marrakech Discovery trip which was a long day but we saw so much of the city. All in all it was a great holiday - enjoyed so much that we want to go again, as soon as we can!

Room Tip: Downstairs rooms are great for children, there's grass outside the patio doors, just like being...

Best holiday so far in Morocco, food staff and rooms very good.
The fig liquor shots were good, what I can remember of them.
Altas Mountains trip by 4x4 was amazing.
The spa was great with really good staff.
Pool cold but gave it a try, weather was very hot for first days of a 10 day break, so needed to cool down.
Plenty of sunbeds and towels provided daily.
Pool bar good and no queues.
A visit to the square in Marrakech, a must we went early evening on a Saturday, have a drink on a terrace overlooking the square.
Hope to be back next year.
Enjoy!
