“A wonderful oasis of calm amidst chaos...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

I loved this Riad, and the staff were so wonderful, Zara and Abdeljala (I may have their names slightly wrong!)....
It was minutes away from the main square, but you couldn't hear a thing (other than the wonderful call to prayer) once ensconced inside.
It was spotless, cool, my room on the terrace on the top floor was fabulous (beds a little hard!)..
Breakfast was fresh, the coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice a very welcome start to the day!
It really was a wonderful oasis, away from the noise, heat, and chaos of Marrakesh, I couldn't wait to get back here after sight seeing and shopping!
You do need to have a spattering of French, they did not speak any English, so you would struggle if you had a problem..
They could not do enough to help, and it was a bonus having someone on hand 24 hours a day.
Would definitely stay here again if I return...

This is a beautiful little oasis away from the craziness and heat (depending on the time of year) of the Medina. All the photos posted here and on the website are a great reflection of what the riad is really like. I selected this riad because of its position (which really is fabulous – 5mins walk to the main market), the well appointed rooms (nicely decorated in the traditional style and more spacious than many of the others that I saw online), the size of the riad (ie not too big), great reviews and reasonable price. It lived up to all my expectations but the real surprise was the wonderful hosts – Mohammed and Fatima. It was not physically possible for them to be more kind or accommodating. My partner speaks only a little French (I can’t at all) but it really wasn’t a problem. The breakfasts prepared by Fatima were ample, delicious and changed each day. While the pool is traditional and small it is perfect for sitting back comfortably at the end of a tiring day. One suggestion, if you like having a glass or two at night make sure you bring your own alcohol because it is not possible to buy it in the Medina. While most of the more expensive restaurants serve alcohol it is also nice to have an aperitif at the riad – like us, you might find that you want to maximize your time there. While we didn’t eat at the riad in the evenings, I imagine Fatima’s dinners are wonderful, given the quality of the breakfast.

Mohammed and Fatima went out of their way at every opportunity to make us feel welcome at Ain Dabachi. Wonderful tea and sweet upon our arrival and a delicious dinner since we were so exhausted after 24 hours of travelling we didn't want to leave the guest house. Breakfasts made by Fatima were delicious, fresh and plentiful. The staff was always on hand to provide tea and sweets/snacks during the day when we would come back to rest of the terrace after a long day of sightseeing. The Riad is in an excellent location just steps away from all the action. The hotel was spotless, beds were comfortable and bath amenities were nice.

One thing to consider- if you are staying with someone other than a partner/spouse, not all the rooms have closed in bathrooms, meaning you can see into the bathroom from the main bedroom. Not really a problem for us since we didn't spend a lot of time in the room but make sure to specify when you make your reservation if you want a closed off bathroom. Also, take Mohammed up on his offer to have their personal driver pick you up at the airport. We did not do this and wish we had. It costs exactly the same as getting a cab from the airport on your own and will save you a ton of hassle when trying to find the place which is very difficult the first but but incredibly simple after you have done it once. Always felt very safe even when walking at night.

We spent 3 weeks travelling in Morocco and Marrakesh was the first stop on our trip. We truly felt welcomed and well cared for which went a long way to ease a bit of the culture shock.

I stayed here with 5 other friends, and we were shocked everyday at how wonderful Mohammed and Fatima treated us! It was absolutely wonderful and couldn't have asked for a better place to stay! Literally a 2 minute walk through the old corridors, and you're at the main market in the heart of Marrakech.... Why spend 4 times the amount at a hotel across town, when you can have serious luxury at your fingertips for a fraction of the cost? A real no-brainer!! Thank you sooooo much Mohammed and Fatima for the delicious food, hookah, wine, tea, crepes, and everything else I'm forgetting!! Eric V.
