First the downside. If you don't like animals this place may not be for you! Two dogs, two cats, four donkeys, half a dozen sheep and innumerable chickens wander around the house and if you're not into menageries then maybe you should look elsewhere! Also the ride to the house is disconcerting to say the least! At one minute you're driving along the main road to and from the airport. The next you have veered off and seem to be driving across a lunar landscape of the city's detritus. Mounds of pottery, breeze blocks, bricks and masonry litter the area. The road is bumpy in a 4x4. In a normal car it is incredibly uncomfortable!
But what a treat awaits. I loved this hotel. We stayed in the two rooftop rooms which were clean, tidy, smelled beautiful and were superbly kitted out. The architecture is an odd mixture of Saharan and Hacienda! The food is fantastic. The swimming pool is delicious. The rest areas are beautiful and quiet. The staff are lovely. The owners - both French - speak very good English and were remarkably hospitable! We loved the animals and the peace and quiet. We loved the food and conviviality. On our second day it rained non-stop: so we just stayed in by the log fire. We loved this place!
