“Not too bad”
Reviewed January 10, 2014 via mobile

The people who've written awful reviews about Chez Ali may have judged the place simply on the food, having not properly booked it via a hotel or excursion organiser located in souks or jama el fna.
If I were to base the night completely on the food then okay fair enough it would be a complete waste of time and money. The food isn't anything special, just your average bland Moroccan food, saying that it's not terribly over priced either and you have live entertainment of various local people playing music.
But the highlight of the night was most definitely the show they have after the food which consists of a horse show and a belly dancer on a stage. The horse show was magnificent, solo horse riders performing tricks and group riders sprinting down the straight and firing the guns into the air, truly well worth it and to top it off fireworks at the end.

“Joyless service and lacklustre entertainment”
Reviewed January 6, 2014

What should and could have been a fun and illuminating evening was spoiled by the complete indifference of the staff and entertainers. The food was average and the service surly to the point of rudeness. Little thought had been given to the show's production, with inadequate seating and lighting, and with no explanation given as to what was happening in the arena. The potential is there but quality has been sacrificed to quantity.

“Awful”
Reviewed January 2, 2014 via mobile

Came in a group & can find nothing good to say. Awful food, service & bored looking performers. Staff had nerve to ask for tip when none warranted. Worst experience for a very long time.

“Interesting !”
Reviewed December 29, 2013

We arranged to visit the show through our hotel. We did not want the dinner as we had dinner at the hotel, therefore booked without dinner, 20 d per person. That included a complementry drink as well.

As you enter you pass horse crew, dancers and other performers standing along waiting for guests to pose for a photograph for a fee. Our drinks were served in an area separated from dining guests. There were free clean toilet facilities around.

Show began around 10.15pm. The ground was not very well lit. There was a parade of performers, women in colourful dresses, men with drums, horseback warriers in the begining. Then there was display by horseman with shooting spell and spectacular acrobatics by some. Then there was a lone bellydancer, who performed on some kind of a platform for about 10 min. Unfortunately she was in the middle of the ground, so her dance moves were not much visible. After the dance there were some firework display and show was over around 11.15pm.

It was our final night in Marrakech, and I consider it as a spectacular way of ending the holiday. On the whole it is an avarage show. It is noicy, crazy and although not a must to watch , is intersting !
