We went there a couple of times when coming to Marrakech and it is a wonderful riad, not too far away from the centre of the medina. The terrace is great and spacious, with good views of the city. The inner courtyard is classic and beautiful, a very relaxed, chilled place to spend the evening after a busy day. Staff are welcoming and go out of their way to help you out. There is also wifi access and a widescreen telly if you need to catch up on some news. We booked a double for 250 MAD, which isn't bad for being Marrakech and would definitely come back again.

The only downside was the desert excursion the riad recommended, it is sourced to an outside company (Mami tour excursions) so none of their fault really, but the tour was a bit of a disappointment and lacking in many ways.

Otherwise, great place.

My friend and I (both recent college grads from America) stayed in Riad Chennaoui when we visited Marrakech in February 2011. The riad is really beautiful and the terrace is amazing, with gorgeous views! I booked an 8 person room (I think) and it was actually two different rooms with four beds each. The rooms were really basic but clean and comfortable. The staff at the hostel were all very very friendly and welcoming. The location of the hostel is great as well, just about ten minutes from the main city square. All in all I had a great time at this hostel, it was very clean with an extremely hospitable staff;it was a great experience for a very low price (only like 8 euros per night, I think).

I've stayed in a luxury Riad (Julia) and Ive stayed here in one of the cheapest rooms but I would go for this one. Dont get me wrong, the room wasnt very good at all and everyone sharing had to also listen to each other use the toilet with only a curtain inbetween. What makes this riad worthwhile is that its quite close to the Medina and it has a license for alcohol which does come in handy! The communal area is very good with little nooks for privacy but it also has a big TV for catching live football games with fellow travellers.
If I went back to Marrakech, I'd come back here but splash out a bit more for a private suite if I was with my partener although with friends then I'd just go for the cheapest again!

The medina in Marrakech is a tough place for budget travelers as many riads are very expensive. Riad Chennaoui is a work in progress. We paid 550 MAD for a triple room en suite, not including breakfast. The riad itself is very airy and has a great roofdeck, as well as free wi-fi and cable. Unfortunately when we were there they were ripping up the tile in the center courtyard so there was a lot of mess. Also, like in many budget places in the medina, there is a pervasive sewer gas odor, which may have been worse on the first floor where we stayed. The manager Najeem is very nice and the riad is not in the thick of it but still close enough to Jen El Fnaa. It is located very near the Dar Sidi Said. The phone number is 05 24 37 61 40 or mobile 06 67 06 35 14. You might want to text so they can help you navigate there. This riad is worth checking out.

this riad is in a good location, thats about it.
The 'charming' manager sold us a tour that was quoted in Dirham and was changed to Euros on our return, an absolute and complete stitch up ! His mate the driver was also Mr Smooth, we were VERY RIPPED OFF.Very dissapointed and a considerable amount of euros poorer.
The hammam on site was a grubby little room for 100dh you couldnt even get up a sweat, local hammam 10dh around the corner.
The riad rooms upstairs have serious sewerage drainage issues with the smell to accompany this, it was extremely loud with the flat screen television watched by the owner on in the central courtyard often, and to end it a light fingered staff member who took a liking to my clothes all in all Marrakech is EXCITING and BUZZING but this riad should be avoided:

We booked this hotel before reading the reviews and were a little worried about what to expect after we had read what some people had written. On arrival at Les Oliviers, we too were moved to the annex around the corner (which is actually a seperate Riad called Riad Chennaoui). The service on arrival was immediate and excellent. There were three principal members of staff who made our stay incredible. Breakfast was delicious, meals were great and the rooms were very clean and beautiful. Staff went out of their way to not only make us feel comfortable but to make us feel very special and we were very sad to leave. I believe that there are probably many riads that are far more opulent and beautiful but I doubt that the staff are as genuinely lovely as these. It was also in a great location not far from all of the main attractions, plus it is just down the road from an economical but fabulous hammam (hammam Ziani). This place far exceeded our expectations and we hope to return there soon.
