“A little jewel in the heart of Marrakech, highly recommended!”

Just back from 3 days in Marrakech.
This Riad was just what we were looking for. Traditional, beautiful, cosy, clean, comfortable, friendly, easy location and great value.
This lovely typically Moroccan Riad has its star: Ibrahim. A discreet but attentive young man who speaks very good English and French and who will try his very best to make your stay most enjoyable. Also its manager Jimmy Hendrix alias Omar was very hospitable and welcoming.
Yes there were some wasps on the terrace...well they don't bother me and you can eat in the pretty courtyard downstairs.

This riad needs better attention. The minute you walk in, you feel immediately the lack of supervision and management. Towels (supposedly white!) NEED to be replaced. Cleanliness (everywhere: rooms, hall, kitchen) is very mediocre to say the least. Staff smoke in the riad!! There is a serious problem with bees in the terrace, makes it impossible to enjoy any meal up there.
You feel that whoever owns this riad basically left it to untrained/unskilled workers to run it.

Room Tip: Rooms upstairs are brighter

Great Riad!!!
Everything was awesome, and Ibrahim was the best host.
Took really good care of us and helped with everything.
Food was extremely good, super warm-full room and a cool terrace to chill out.
Thanks for everything, Hope we meet again.

Lovely, traditionally decorated riad with such attention to detail which made it a really great home from home.
Ibrahim's hospitality was amazing and attentive, making sure we were ok all the time, making us mint tea. He would even check venues to make sure we got there ok since taxi drivers are a little adverse to looking at maps resulting in longer journeys the required. Would definately go back! :)

The location was off the main street down some small alleyways. Through a beautiful wooden brass studded door was an oasis of calm and wonderful typically Moroccan decoration and furnishings. Our room was spacious and spotlessly clean, attended to daily by very discreet friendly staff. The roof terrace provided a quiet, comfortable place to soak up the hot sun and listen to the call to prayer and the buzz of Marrakech. We felt safe and welcomed in this vibrant city with so much to see and do. We would definitely return!

Room Tip: Upgrade for very little extra as more space in room and larger bathroom

I'm just back from spending 4 nights in Riad Sofia. When we first arrived we were well looked after by Hakim (also known as Jimmy Hendrix). Hakim gave us some mint tea while we were checking in and then guided us down the road to a good restaurant which was somewhat expensive but it was useful to get our bearings. Hakim was great throughout our stay and worked very hard each day! The riad itself was tucked away down a dark alleyway which usually had teenagers hanging around outside which was a little bit intimidating at first but once we realised they weren't one bit interested in bothering us it became normal and we felt very safe. The location is handy once you get your bearings, only a 10 minute walk to the centre. The room was comfortable and very quiet. Beds and pillows were somewhat hard but that seems to be the standard in Marrakech! Breakfast was fine..served in the courtyard beside the plunge pool. We didn't eat any other meals there but I think you could order evening meals as well. The roof terrace is nice and was also peaceful. As its a small riad it's quite good for getting to meet some of the other guests, particularly if the manager Omar is about! Omar was very friendly and enjoyed getting to know the guests and speaks good English. We enjoyed having a drink with him one evening and a nice Lithuanian couple and we also met the French owner and his family who were very nice too. Overall the riad was great value for money and a peaceful place to stay in the medina not too far away from the main places!

Riad Sofia is like an oasis of peace and quiet in the noisy and never sleepping Marrakech. The hoste is very hospitable and kind. The riad is clean and tidy. We've loved the terrace and the pool! The employee name Hakim is very helpful and friendly. We've enjoyed our stay!
