“Wow! A real treat”
Reviewed June 28, 2012

Tucked away in the back streets of Marrakech, this is a hidden gem. If you can find it, you are in for a treat! My boyfriend and I ate there to celebrate his birthday, and we ended up staying for over 4 hours. You are required to pre-book, and for a set price of around £50, you get fed like royalty, with (from memory), around 10 courses of exquisite Moroccan food. Certainly more than enough to satisfy even the biggest appetites. The atmosphere is one of indulgence and the building is pretty romantic; tables are strewn with rose petals, lighting is by candles and unobtrusive live music is performed most nights. I'd rank this in the top three restaurants I've ever been to.

“Way too much food!”
Reviewed June 26, 2012

Having read reviews about going here whilst being hungry. We did, but perhaps should have fasted for a few days. no menu so you get whatever they choose to serve.
Salads were lovely, chicken tagine was tender, lamb tagine ok, bowl of couscous enough for a dozen diners (such waste), Lovely steamed pear and then after saying no more..... They bring a pastry. All polished off with at least a bottle of wine and 3 bottles of water. The latter because it was unbearably hot. They did open the roof and turn some fans on but only after a couple of hours of being in the sauna. An experience my waistline will not allow me to repeat during this visit. 125dhs for 2 felt somewhat pricey although beautiful surroundings and local musicians also thrown in!

“Good food, and lots of it”
Reviewed June 15, 2012

It's a rather chic thing, with traditional erudite music. Talk with the owner who is charming. We talked about recipes, she was very nice. The food is excellent, traditional moroccan. There is a set menu for around 650 dh per person that includes a very wide selection of starters, two dishes and dessert.

“Magical place, but slow and pricey”
Reviewed June 8, 2012

I booked a table here for my husband and I for dinner. The restaurant looks gorgeous with dimmed lights, candles with Moroccan decorations. Very romantic! We specifically booked a table a on the 1st floor balcony as it gave us privacy but we could see the whole restaurant at the same time.

They only have a set menu dinner. First course: 10 different salads with bread, second course: chicken tagine, third course: lamb with couscous and dessert as the last course. The food was tasty but not exceptional, the chicken was a bit bland.

Service was polite but we had 20-30 minutes between courses which is very slow. We met the owner on arrival, she was lovely but a bit flustered. Later she came to check if our food was in order and we mentioned that the food was good but we had to wait quite a bit between courses. She smiled confused, seemed happy that we enjoyed the food but did not address our concern regarding the waiting time. I found this unprofessional but maybe this was caused by the language barrier.

We paid 1,300 dirams (around £100) for the two of us which seemed quite pricey for Marrakech. We ate better food at Pepe Nero for half the price. Overall the restaurant is beautiful and the perfect setting for a romantic night; food is good; service is polite but slow and it is a bit expensive.
