“Magical place, but slow and pricey”
Reviewed June 8, 2012

I booked a table here for my husband and I for dinner. The restaurant looks gorgeous with dimmed lights, candles with Moroccan decorations. Very romantic! We specifically booked a table a on the 1st floor balcony as it gave us privacy but we could see the whole restaurant at the same time.

They only have a set menu dinner. First course: 10 different salads with bread, second course: chicken tagine, third course: lamb with couscous and dessert as the last course. The food was tasty but not exceptional, the chicken was a bit bland.

Service was polite but we had 20-30 minutes between courses which is very slow. We met the owner on arrival, she was lovely but a bit flustered. Later she came to check if our food was in order and we mentioned that the food was good but we had to wait quite a bit between courses. She smiled confused, seemed happy that we enjoyed the food but did not address our concern regarding the waiting time. I found this unprofessional but maybe this was caused by the language barrier.

We paid 1,300 dirams (around £100) for the two of us which seemed quite pricey for Marrakech. We ate better food at Pepe Nero for half the price. Overall the restaurant is beautiful and the perfect setting for a romantic night; food is good; service is polite but slow and it is a bit expensive.

“Nice place, expensive but worth it”
Reviewed June 3, 2012

Tobsil is an upscale tourist-oriented restaurant in a large restored riad. Its hard to find but once you get close somebody from the restaurant appears as if by magic and escorts you there. The atmosphere is very pleasant. The food is basically a standard multi course Moroccan feast. Arrive hungry because its a big, big meal. The cooking is expert and the service is gracious. Expensive but worth it for a spurge.

“My favorite”
Reviewed May 29, 2012

I have been to Tobsil several and its my favourite restaurant in Marrkech. It is true that Yakout looks more impressive but Tobsil wins on the charm and character of the old riad in the heart of teh Medina. The roof can open in the hot weather and a calming rythmic band plays in the corner. The food which follows the Maroccan pattern of salads followed by different tangines and couscous is really delicate and subtly differnent from the other fine restaurants in the town. Try the chicken with olives. Go there abd reserve a table in the courtyard.
