Wthout wanting to sound over the top Riad Tizwa is the most beautiful place i have ever stayed, the rooms are all perfectly decorated with utmost taste and style while retaining every essence of Morroco. You cannot as for better service everybody is kind and willing to help you with directions and places to visit whilst serving you the breakfast of Kings. I cannot wait to have the opportunity to visit it again.

Maybe I am just a 'grumpy old woman', but I was expecting magic and it wasn't really forthcoming. Having chosen it as a result of all the amazing reviews, I thought it sounded ideal as an introduction to a 'different' way of life for my husband, 18 year old daughter and her friend ( who would feel more at home in luxury hotels !). And in many ways, it was. The building is beautiful, the rooms fine -except the lighting makes it IMPOSSIBLE to read or even see properly at night. The roof terrace needs care and attention. However, my biggest problem is that I left feeling ripped off by the, ever helpful, staff. We asked for a 'cheap, good restaurant' and ended up paying nearly 2000 dirhams - ( c. £45 a head ) which is a lot of money anywhere, especially for a very average Moroccan meal - although the restaurant building was fabulous. And I just know someone took a cut.....So, yes, it is a great budget option, but beware........

We were pointed to this riad by this website and it did not disappoint. When we arrived in Fes, they arranged to have their driver pick us up at the train station and bring us to the hotel. When we arrived, we found lighted floor candles, a bottle of wine, a bottle of water, and fresh fruits and figs on a table in our room. The place is amazingly decorated... even their small rooms are cozy and beautiful. There is ample space on the roof for sunbathing and relaxing. On the second to last day, we both fell ill with food poisoning, and the help not only let us stay well past check-out time, but brought us rice, bread, and water while we recovered in bed (actually, I was on the floor of the bathroom)! I must say, that I was completely amazed at the level of service and caring these people offered us, simply because they wanted to. I couldn't recommend a better, more hospitable place to stay.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Riad Tizwa for 3 nights and I would urge anyone looking to stay in Fes to contact Daniel or Richard and stay here. The riad itself is stunning a large peaceful central courtyard leads off to the nine hidden rooms, found on hidden staircases that seem to perfectly encapsulate the winding medina of Fes. Each room is so beautiful in its own unique way. Winding your way to the top of the riad the terrace has fantastic views of the medina that you can enjoy whilst eating the greatest breakfast of fruits and yoghurt you will find in Africa. To top it all off the staff of Samir and Miriam were wonderful, and at the slight mention of my love for melon Samir made sure it was an edition at the next days breakfast.

The location is perfect, the riad is divine, and the personal level of care given from the owners and the team at the riad cannot be beaten. In a word, it was fantastic.

We spent 3 nights here and had a great time. The staff is very attentive, Merrieme, the hotel manager, spoke English and arranged a guide for us which worked out well. Breakfast was served promptly and was delicious! The rooms were large and beautiful. We stayed in room 2 which overlooked the courtyard and had beautiful stained glass windows. Yes there were some more un-Moroccan furniture and decorations but that did not really bother us that much. I could see how some would be annoyed at the bathroom set-up. Ours had a little shower area but I saw that other rooms, the shower was not really separate from the toilet so it would get everything wet. From our experience though, everything was wonderful and I would highly recommend Riad Tizwa Fez.

Ok, we can't lie... This Riad Tizwa is a little hard to find as when we went, there was no proper signage. SO... if you're going to book to stay there - and u should cause it is a beautifully restored riad - make sure to organise with the staff to meet you or to send a cab for you. Once you're there and get your bearings sorted, you'll find it hard to leave. You can while away many hours sitting in the sunny courtyard sipping mint tea and nibbling sugared nuts, flipping through the latest editions of Wallpaper* - small but really nice touches. The rooms are all beautifully designed. Rooms 1 and 2 are extremely spacious, room 1 even comes with a separate dressing room and bathroom. The four poster beds are as comfy as they are sexy, and once again Tizwa's friendly and helpful staff will help you organise everything you need done. Just give them some notice and they'll sort it out. Don't forget to spend some time on the roof, settle down at sunset with a drink and soak in the full atmosphere of Fez!
