Having arrived at approximately 11pm by train on our first night we were eventually greeted by Mohamad with a big smiling face after giving them the wrong information on where we were at the Medina. This was only made better as we had previously organised Dinner but it was now 11.30pm by the time we got there and were totally surprised to see that it was still arranged for us. It was the best we had had in Morocco, and compliments to Mariam the chef. Amal welcomed us like long lost family and considering we did not really know any French words let along Arabic this place surely could not of got better. But it did. Our stay of 3 nights has been memerable and can certainly say without hesitation anybody staying here will leave with a smile on their face.

We booked Riad La Cle de Fes while in Marrackesh and were impressed by the staff''s attentiveness at this early stage. They organised a taxi to collect us from the train station and although the train was 2 hours late arriving the taxi was there waiting for us. The Riad itself is gorgeous - read all the previous reviews- and the staff so helpful and friendly. Francoise (the owner), Beatrice, Amal, Miriam, Mohammed and the housekeeping girls all made us feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed eating at the Riad for two nights and it felt so warm and cozy when they lit the fire and we could relax in this little oasis after wandering through the souk's maze. Our bedroom was enormous, the bed comfy and one of the treats was the exquisite soap from Paris- rose scented and natural.
The Riad was also brilliantly located being only a 5 minute stroll (maximum) to the souk so it was easy to come and go if you needed some respite. We would thoroughly recommend this Riad to anyone travelling in Fes and don't be put off by it only having a 3 star status because it deserves much higher!!

Fes has more than 100 Riads but we would definitively say that Riad la Cle de Fes is one of the top ones. Perfectly located between the Medina and near the Royal Palace, it's an airy place, with high ceilings, tastefully decorated, large and comfortable rooms and a very warm welcome from all the staff. You should also dine in and try the homemade couscous, divine! The roof terrace's views are stunning, certainly somewhere we would recommend to rest, relax, recuperate and re-energize - a peaceful haven before continuing our journey..."

This riad was the most gorgeous place we stayed in while in Morocco, and was a wonderful place to end our two week vacation. The decor is spectactular, w/ plaster and wood wall carvings, and beautiful mosaics throughout. The rooms are huge and very tastefully decorated. The outdoor breakfast area next to the small pool was a wonderful setting w/ many lovely plants and flowers. The rooftop area was also lovely, with an incredible view of Fes. Amal and Beatrice were warm, welcoming, and could not have been more gracious. Mohammed, though he spoke very little English, was charming w/ a very infectious smile, and was, in fact, waiting for us outside of the riad one night around 10 to let us in, so as not to wake other guests were we to ring the bell. Dinner was offered the first night we arrived, (there is a charge, of course) as their thought is that you are tired on your first day of arrival and do not have the orientation of the city to find a restaurant that night. It was actually a welcomed offer, as we had been driving all day from the desert near Merzouga. The food was good, though it could have been a little warmer. Breakfast was delicious and ample. We would ABSOLUTELY recommend this riad to anyone visiting Fes.

We are a family of three who stayed three nights in October. The Riad is really gorgeous and it’s very pleasant just to spend time in the magnificent 1000 year old lobby. Actually the place looks so nice that I felt that if I was too scruffily dressed I’d be degrading the place. The photos on the website don’t do it justice. The location is very good and really accessible by car at the end of the street. It also seemed a very safe location on a quite side street. Our reception by Amal was very proper and perhaps a little bit formal but she was very friendly and quite a funny person actually and very helpful and accessible. The other manager Beatrice was a very nice down-to-earth french lady who often hovered around to all the guests to see if everyone was OK. Fatima the cook was a lovely girl and genuinely wanted to please everyone with her cooking, which at €20 each for dinner is a little expensive, (although that’s not her fault) but very good indeed and she tried to be imaginative and please the guests, sharing recipes etc. She’s a nice person. Most people ate there at least once which I would also recommend as a treat even though you can eat outside the Riad for a third of the price. In this Riad you are pampered and its feels so safe after the hussle and hassle of the streets of Fes. You almost feel you have an obligation to eat in as they do want to cook and serve you, eating in is a good option. The joker of the Riad must be Mohammed who is the porter, waiter and all round help as well as party clown. He’s an all round very funny guy. We felt very at home with all the staff and having a reasonable knowledge of french made everything a lot more enjoyable. The room (Bab Boujloud) was great for three and the lovely bathroom was the best we experienced in Morocco with lots of hot water and fluffy towels. The bed was also really good with lovely crisp linen and most of all a good pillow, we slept very well. I’m giving them 5 stars even though they asked if I could make a review in Trip Advisor. I’ve no problem with that as I’d have done it anyway and always give my true opinion. They deserve 5 stars because their attention to detail is unsurpassed. Although Fes as a city that can drive you crazy we would definitely go back to this Riad if we ever returned, even if just for the Riad itself.

You must stay here. The building is absolutely spectacular, the food fantastic, with friendly service. We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed our stay.

There are not alot of great places to eat in Fes, so had 2 night meals at the Riad and the food was amazing. Thank you Mariam for the food and Mohammed for your service.

English is not widely spoken by the staff, but we had no problems communicating.

The true highlight for us was the incredible building. We have travelled alot and this is a very special place.

Fes Medina is an old and complicated place to navigate. Riad La Cle de Fes is unexpectedly beautiful, quiet and relaxing compared to its outside surroundings. The staff is very helpful and does everything to put you at ease. The service level is high and the atmosphere is very comfortable. Meals there were excellent. Our room was fairly large and well appointed. If you are very tall, ask about bathroom ceiling height. It is extremely helpful in Fes, generally, if you brush up on basic French.
