This was a disappointing experience. While the hotel and the rooms look spectacular, the hotel is let down by its service. We found the service to be incredibly slow and not particularly friendly. I know we were warned by our travel agent but there are a huge number of stairs in the hotel and they are steep so if you have mobility issues this hotel is not a good option. The food was also incredibly disappointing compared to our stay in Marrakech.

Room Tip: Be careful when selecting a room due to the number of stairs also be aware that some of the rooms ha...

We had arrived in Morocco late the previous evening and after a brief stop in Rabat had spent our day travelling via Meknes and Volubilis. On arrival at the Riad we were warmly welcomed with milk and delicious dates before being shown to our suite. What greeted us was delightful. We ate in the restaurant on both nights of our stay - easily accessed for us since our suite had stairs giving access to the terrace. The food was authentic and delicious. Breakfasts were generous and satisfying. Views to the ramparts were amazing, as were the internal aspects of the Riad - pool, orange trees ... On departure we wondered whether other hotels would disappoint us after the Riad. We did not use the spa but my husband states that the gym was very well equipped.

We arrived after a four day trip to the High Atlas and Sahara and were greeted by charming, helpful staff. The riad is very well appointed, our suite was luxurious and a joy after the travelling - large bed, hot shower and air conditioning. We had dinner on the rooftop restaurant with views of Fez, the ramparts and, in early evening, a sky full of birds! The food is delicious, breakfast offers varied local and international dishes. There are lots of stairs to climb to the various parts of the building. The hammam was an experience worth taking. All in all highly recommended.

Room Tip: all rooms are good

We stayed at riad maison blue for 3 nights in September 2013 and were lodged in a beautiful suite overlooking the old fort. Our suite was absolutely beautiful with rose petals on the bed and in the bath and a basket of fruits to welcome us. just divine. All the employees were helpful and staying at riad maison bleue was the highlight of our stay in Fes. Loved it and would recommend it to anyone staying in Fes. The location was perfect as the entrance to the medina was only a couple of minutes walk away and at night it was all well lit so we felt very safe walking to and from the hotel.

Riad Maison Bleue was a very welcome oasis after a 9 hour train journey from Marrakech. We were welcomed with milk and dates beside the lovely pool before being shown to our suite, named after the philosopher Lahbabi, which was quite luxurious. It consisted of a large sleeping area with king-sized bed, a comfortable sitting area, a dining area complete with dining table and candelabra, a dressing area and a large bathroom. At night we looked out at the ruins of the old medinah walls which were floodlit, very atmospheric (slightly more atmospheric than the dogs barking and the donkeys braying during the night - but they didn't keep us awake).
We ate breakfast on the lower roof terrace which was delightful. Fresh orange juice, fruit salad, yogurt, cheese, ham, various breads and pastries with preserves and tea/mint tea or coffee. We did not sample the cooked option as we didn't feel that we needed it.
There were 2 other roof terraces on which to relax and admire the views over Fez. One has sunloungers or sofas in the shade, and the topmost terrace has sofas, tables and even better views. An evening drink up there was wonderful after a hard day sightseeing.
The staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble, from ordering a drink on the terrace to organising a day trip to Volubilis, Meknes and Moulay Idris, complete with guide and driver.
The riad is only a short walk through the souk from the Blue Gate where there is a selection of restaurants serving typical local food. Several of the restaurants have roof terraces which are a good place to watch the thousands of swallows hunting for insects as the sun goes down.
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour around the historic sites of Fez including the tannery and the pottery. Definitely a place to visit, and where better to stay than Riad Maison Bleue.

Room Tip: The Philosophers Suite was beautiful.

It has very beautiful pool, romantic and cute rooms.
Although we arrived the riad midnight about 2 a.m. because our ship from Spain was late, the hotel manager ( or a staff) was so nice and kind that he gave us hot wet towels, some local dried fruit and tea.
Also, the room was very beautiful with rose petals everywhere such as on the bed, the bathtub and had lots of 'welcome fruit' .
The furnitures looked antique and luxurious.
We loved this riad very much.
There was one point to be improved, though: small ants in the bath room. It is probably because of the hot humid climate and may be difficult to get rid of them completely on the ground floor.

Overall, we really enjoyed the stay in this riad. We would like to visit it again.

Thank you for your service.

If you really want to get a peek into Moroccan culture and traditional life style you really have to go to Fes for that's where the soul of Morocco lives.
And to get an insight you have to stay at the Riad Maison Bleue.
We were driving from Tangiers and had no idea how long it would take us to get to Fes. As it happened it took far longer than what we had anticipated.
I had called in advance to let the hotel know of our late arrival and need for a long over due meal.
We reached at 11 PM and they had made arrangements for the kitchen and bar to be kept open.
It's a narrow lane good for pedestrian traffic only that leads up to an ornate Moroccan door which opens into the riad, inside the internal courtyard has a pool and around it run corridors that lead to rooms and terraces and patios.
There are a lot of plants and trees, rose and orange dominate.

Rooms are very well appointed and are at various levels spread through out, its all very picturesque and private.
Food is Moroccan and French.
The spa is recommended, after an entire day in the madina the couple of hours spent in the hamman and spa were very welcome. The hamman is unlike its Turkish cousin, which is very basic and somewhat harsh, this one is gentle and private and calming. The massage was very good.
We went for one day but stayed for 2 and that on a tight schedule is saying something.
I think we got a suite, four poster bed and seating area and desk and what not.
