“Beautiful Gem of a Hotel”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

My friend and I loved staying at Riad Fes, felt like we were in such a luxurious, exotic setting. The riad is gorgeous, with beautiful, very classic Moroccan architecture. Definitely take the time to walk around, check out the different floors, terraces, etc.

We had a junior suite style room, no window in our room which was kind of weird, but we had light that came in from the windows from the adjacent interior courtyard. The bathroom was awesome, basically the size of the room itself. Nice set-up with a chaise lounge in sitting area.

Service was amazing. Highlight was when we went out to dinner one night, and the manager had someone take us there and pick us up since we had to navigate the maze of the souk. It was much appreciated!

Also enjoyed having drinks at the bar and little sitting areas/nooks next to the pool. It's outdoors but there are space heaters in winter. The restaurant is excellent, we had a terrific dinner there, and buffet breakfast is great.

Historic, luxurious and well run. We loved the location and all of the amazing spots within the hotel for relaxing. The roof decks and pool area were especially nice.

We had a very cool room upstairs in the main hall. The hotel was not very busy, but I could see this room being noisy if it was.

We stayed in the Jasmine Room and loved it ... Even after climbing the stairs. The restaurant is first class, as are breakfasts and dinners eaten there. The bathroom was of a remarkable quality with everything provided that you could wish for. An electric kettle would be useful but We would certainly return.

In the median, yet cabs know how to get there via the garden gate, is a palace thats affordable.
Public spaces are lush, comfortable and inviting. Have arrival tea near the pool. Your own room, some with terraces offer great views, great accommodations and amenities. Staff is warm, helpful and friendly. Restaurant serves fabulous breakfast buffet, and dinners, prepared by women chefs which is the tradition are some of Fes' best. Oh yes, only downside is that some rooms must be reached only by stairs, while others do have elevator access. Oh well, what's some exercise in this luxury? Note that you'll want to stay at least two - three nights and the hotel staff will help you with guides and drivers around Fes.

Room Tip: make sure you know if you'll be climbing stairs or taking the elevator. Our upgraded mini-suite...

Riad Fes is absolutely beautiful - the public areas are gorgeous, and the rooms are comfortable and stylish. They're a little on the anonymous side, but at the end of our Morocco trip we were ready for a really neutral space with a big bath and comfy beds. The location is good, and it's possible to find on your own from Batha square - it's well posted with signs, and we managed perfectly well doing this - but there are transfers available. We didn't eat dinner here, but the breakfasts were the best of our Morocco stay. They answered all our queries promptly, arranged a guide (who we were 75% happy with - a good historical tour, with the expected shopping caper at the end), and called one of our restaurants to arrange someone to come and lead us there. Service could be slow at the bar, but the staff were lovely. The spa prices are comically high compared to other places in Morocco, even the other luxury riads we stayed at, but perhaps the treatments are extraordinary (we didn't try them). The only negative was a disappointing quibble over paying with my visa card for our (not enormous but not tiny) bar bill at the end of the stay - they won't take cards for a payment of less than 500 dirham, which is (give or take) 50 euro - a ridiculously high lower limit for card use, and I would think sort of embarrassing for such a luxurious hotel to waffle over, especially when a guest is on their way out and this is their last experience of the stay. But really, that's minor, and wouldn't have mattered except that we had deliberately spent our dirhams, since this was our last stop and we'd been told we couldn't exchange dirhams at the Fes airport. The rest of the stay was great.

Room Tip: We booked a deluxe double, and loved it.

Very well thought out combination of several buildings with a large traditional riad to make a high end b and b right in the middle of the old medina. You can't drive right to it, and you will really need a guide to find it.

Large well appointed rooms, neat traditionally decorated public spaces. Make sure you have reliable hot water before accepting your room. Also a good kitchen; an option for one of your evening meals with advance notice.

The old medina of Fes is the place to be in Fes, and the place to stay in the old medina is Riad Fes. It is absolutely beautiful - the public spaces are breathtaking, and the rooms are beautifully appointed. We stayed in an ambassador suite - the Pasha suite. This huge room with soaring ceilings was dramatic, but very comfortable. The second bathroom had the most comfortable bathtub I've ever used. The restaurant served delicious food, especially the wonderful breakfast spread. The bar and pool areas are both modern and appealing, and the spa looks enchanting (didn't get to use it!). The staff was friendly, if not always totally on top of things. Riad Fes is close to everything in the old medina and near car access. I can't imagine a better place to stay while visiting Fes.
