“Nice interior, but service needs improvement.”
Reviewed May 3, 2012 via mobile

Very nice interior. Unique. But the Masria room we stayed in was dark and cramped and short of room amenities that hotel of such a class should offer. There is no tea or coffee making facility. There is no separate shower, and the bathtub lacks a shower curtain. The Masria room opens to the courtyard where the bar is, so it can be noisy. The bathroom has a window open to the alley facing a residence , so privacy will be compromised if one is to keep the window open for ventilation. We ate at the restaurant which was obviously shorthanded. The service was rather poor. It has a very limited menu compared with room service! The food was so so although it was rated as one of the best in Morocco. However we ordered the chicken kebab on the room service menu and it was excellent.

I've recently stayed in this hotel and I have to say it was perfect. The personalized attention, the room, the location, the atmosphere. Loved everything about it. Definitely recommend it

Room Tip: We stayed in the Vizir room, lovely terrace, quiet, very romantic

Walking into this Riad (guest house) is a shock: an bustling area, old neighbourhood, inconspicuous doorway and then... the Riad. A breathtaking, incredible dip into Arabian Nights. I have never seen such a beautiful hotel, I told the receptionist. That is because it is a Riad, she smiled. ;-)

Comfortable rooms, spacious general areas, a good restaurant (albeit pricey, in line with the room rates). Wifi does not work well in the rooms, but it does in the atrium. Very helpful staff, who speak English well.

In the middle of the medina, an ideal location for adventure. Highly recommended.

I had a good 3 nights stay at Riad Fes. It was mid winter therefore it was quiet and pleasant. The space has been well renovated with its corridors leading to interesting decor and views, the interior is a definite andalusian moroccoan style with contemporary interpretation. I was lucky to get the room with the window looking at the open air courtyard, had the room open to enclosed courtyard, it might have been a tad dark. I liked looking out through this window just before sunset when the beige wall turning slowly from rose beige to amber beige while a couple of pigeons seating on it. My favourite spaces was the roof top looking at the vista of Fes sunrise and sunset and the open courtyard when the night lanterns were brought out.

I had two dinners and three breakfasts at l'Amber, I enjoyed them very much. The breakfast was abundant with so many choices of local and western. I liked the small layered square 'ouarka' pancakes served with home made apricot jam and slices of cumin cheese. The highlights were the preserved lemon spring chicken tagine served with seven vegetables couscous, I had it with a glass of moroccoan red.

I was also impressed that the room was tidied up, fresh towel was hung while I was out of the room to have dinner. The service was good, the guys were smiling, though the front desk person was a little cold and bothered when asked for exchanging dollars.

Room Tip: There was one suite with its own courtyard of grey, silver and black. It felt elegant in contrast to...

My husband and I just returned from a memorable weekend at the elegant Riad Fes. Here are the highlights that convinced us to visit this beautiful riad again: The location, although within the old medina, is both authentic and yet convenient. Upon entering, an amazing room with intricate, lace-like plaster details on columns festooned with historically beautiful tile work fulfills every dream of seeing Moroccan architecture from superbly talented craftsmen, making time stand still. This large room was filled with tastefully elegant furnishings, typical of fairy tale Morocco. We were lead to another gorgeous room with black marble floors.. Again this huge room, filled with light from the glass roof was tastefully decorated with the same lace-like plaster work as the main entrance. Our room, through carved wooden doors, gave us total privacy. Elegant monogrammed bedding; an absolutely delicious dinner, served in a private alcove; an amazingly sumputous breakfast served in our room; the friendly, welcoming staff; the feeling of being spoiled without interfering in our privacy makes this a true winner!!!!

We spent two wonderful days in this family owned Riad. The staff was extremely friendly and cooperative. The interior design stylish and breathtaking. The location, itself is an experience
we will not forget, apart from that the kitchen offers fine moroccan cuisine. The price reflects
the service. There is nothing left to say as - we will come back.

A gorgeous riad in the heart of old Fes. For me it was spoilt by the sub funk cool jazz fusion music in the public areas. Fortunately it was always turned off at breakfast when I asked them so they were very helpful. The room we were first assigned was opposite the bar and we could hear such "music" through the door, but the manager changed us to the most gorgeous room at the top of the hotel with its own terrace looking over Fes. Two bathrooms! However the heating system was not quite up to the huge marble palace so we shivered a bit for a day or two and the hot water took some time to arrive. I would say the service was excellent, the breakfasts were excellent, and the food at dinner was good but should perhaps be better for the price. It was a mystery to me why they felt they had to play that awful music in a space that speaks for itself.
