“Nice from the outside, but don't go out of your way”

Royal Palace of Fez (Dar el Makhzen)

If you're visiting the Jewish quarter anyway, you may as well stop to view the palace from the outside, but you can't get in. Warning: you are not allowed to eat in the square.

Its worth a few moments of your time. I did not think it was all that special. If my memory is correct it was built in the late 60's

Put it this way - in the days of film cameras you might have taken 1 photo to remind yourself years later that you were there, otherwise you wouldn't waste the film. Uninteresting really. It's not even used by the the current king. Thay said, some of the mosaics are worth a look.

Could not go in, could only see the outer walls and one Door that was closed to the public. Not sure why any one would want to see high stone walls that look like a prison. Waste of time.

If you want to see how the other half live (more correctly <1%) try walking around this joint. We did and gave up half way, the external walls must measure more than a kilometer in each direction. Don't consider calling for coffee --by invitation only! Nothing much to see as walls 8 meters high. Best advice unless you are related to the occupant is give it a skip.
