Description: *** We are closed for our annual summer holiday 11th to 26th July, open again at 18.00 on 27th July with a new menu *** The cafe/restaurant is in the ruins of a courtyard house in the ancient imperial city of Fez. (Some signs will direct you downhill to us from Batha, though many guys on the street will tell you we are closed!, we are open 1300 to 21.30 every day, except for the second half of July) Serving street foods, cakes and pastries, fresh juices (eg watermelon or cucumber & mint or date and orange blossom milk) and Modern Moroccan lunches & dinners (Beef & Almond Kefta, Spiced onion tart, changing dishes of the day) (Also 7 hour lamb 'Mechwi' to be ordered in advance) The emphasis is on fresh local produce. When it is hot there is shade and sun hats, when cold or wet there is a salon with a log fire looking out into the garden, though when wet reservations essential and during high seasons (Christmas, Easter, May & October) We are situated 5 minutes from Talaa Seghira and the same distance from Batha. * No alcohol I am sorry to say * We offer a free escort service to and from your accommodation within the medina, though call in advance to arrange this. A couple of notes - All tips and gratuities go to the staff & there are cats living in the Medina of Fez, they are stray and are pest control for the city, please do not feed them in the garden. We feed them in the street outside and make sure they have water, as do all Fez residents.

“Quaint and rustic restaurant”
Reviewed August 19, 2014

Restaurant is situated literally in the middle of an overgrown garden. Very rustic and simple type of food, reminded me of ratatouille-type flavors. Very charming but there were a lot of ants and bugs, as to be expected in a garden. The service was very nice. Food was affordable and seemed fresh, but again - very simple. Would recommend if you want a rustic, home-cooked type of meal in an outdoor setting.

“A ruined garden makes the best meals”
Reviewed August 8, 2014

We stayed in the Medina in Fez for 6 days. It took a lot of will power not to have dinner here every night. One of the most beautiful restaurants I've ever been to. We recommended the restaurant to other guests at the Riad Rocco and they thanks us again and again. The menu was exciting, the presentation beautiful and it tasted incredible. Not to be missed. (The second night we got to the restaurant and the door was closed but not lock so we walked in. They told us they were closed. We looked disappointed and said we'd eat a little bit of anything. They smiled, told us to sit down and give us a full meal. I love this place.)

“Very nice atmosphere”

We went there for lunch, the food was amazing and very simple. The restaurant is set in the romantic remains of a crumbling riad, with mosaic floors, fountains and exotic foliage

“Fantastic concept.”
Reviewed July 17, 2014

food was great and they were really goo with being flexible to accommodate food allergies. They had their staff meet us at our Riad and walk us back so we wouldn't get lost which was very nice and definitely needed if you weren't familiar with the Medina.
