Description: The cafe/restaurant is in the ruins of a courtyard house in the ancient imperial city of Fez. (Some signs will direct you downhill to us from Batha, though many guys on the street will tell you we are closed!, we are open 1300 to 21.30 every day, except for the middle 2 weeks of July) Serving street foods, cakes and pastries, fresh juices (eg watermelon or cucumber & mint or date and orange blossom milk) and Modern Moroccan lunches & dinners (Beef & Almond Kefta, Spiced onion tart, changing dishes of the day) (Also 7 hour lamb 'Mechwi' to be ordered in advance) The emphasis is on fresh local produce. When it is hot there is shade and sun hats, when cold or wet there is a salon with a log fire looking out into the garden, though when wet reservations essential and during high seasons (Christmas, Easter, May & October) We are situated 5 minutes from Talaa Seghira and the same distance from Batha. * No alcohol I am sorry to say * We offer a free escort service to and from your accommodation within the medina, though call in advance to arrange this. A couple of notes - All tips and gratuities go to the staff & there are cats living in the Medina of Fez, they are stray and are pest control for the city, please do not feed them in the garden. We feed them in the street outside and make sure they have water, as do all Fez residents.

“Quiet corner in the Medina”
Reviewed September 24, 2013

We went for dinner for my birthday on 23/09/13 and where greeted by a waiter who allowed us to choose where we wanted to sit, he offered us drinks and we ordered a mint tea and cafe au lait.

First impressions the location and setting is beautiful. The garden is quiet even though it is in the centre of the Medina.

We ordered starters and Mains which all came together. The fig and cheese salad wasn't to my liking but that was just because the cheese was too strong for my taste.

The hakura salad I ordered for main was delicious. The salad came with different items not just a plain salad like I was expecting. The hakura was served with a lovely spicy tomato sauce. My partner ordered the beef meatballs with egg, this also came with a salad. He throughly enjoyed them and finished the lot.

After dinner we ordered more drinks a homemade lemonade and a homemade melon juice with a splash of vodka. The drinks were lovely and were larger than I expected.

We couldn't manage dessert on the night as the meals had filled us, so we went back the following evening to try dessert.

Again we were allowed to choose a seat and choose one near the door. We ordered chocolate mousse and Moroccan pastries.

The pastries were nice but nothing compared to the chocolate mousse. It was delicious, it was rich and creamy and was so good I couldn't share with my partner he had to order an extra one.

The restaurant is more expensive than the other restaurants at the front of the Medina, but in comparison to the quality of the food, the location, atmosphere and friendliness of the staff well worth the extra.

“fez oasis”
Reviewed September 23, 2013

This is the place to dip in and out of for lunch or supper or a quick drink to refresh tired legs from meanderings through the medina. Robert is the most fabulous host and the whole team who work with him were very attentive and enthusiastic. Good food and a magical atmosphere. Highly recommend!

“Don't miss the cheesecake!”
Reviewed September 23, 2013

This is an inside/outside restaurant in Fes medina. The setting is beautiful and the food is excellent. Robert is lovely and makes everyone feel at home and part of the whole experience. We ate there three times on our week long stay in Fes and it was great every time- even when we were all feeling delicate. Oh another important point is that it has a licence!!!

“Great place for lunch!”
Reviewed September 17, 2013

I was so happy to find this place while wondering around medina alone. The staff is English-speaking and very nice. I was really happy in this wonderful garden. I had Atlas Trout along with salads and it was good price-wise and very yummy! You can order wine too.
It really made my day!

“Great place not so good food”
Reviewed August 25, 2013

A nice restaurant in the heart of the medina, where the staff is very nice. The restaurant is much better than the food, that could improve a lot, cause the prices are quite high
