Description: NUR Restaurant is situated in the heart of the Fez Medina: the cradle of Moroccan gastronomy. The medina is filled with local markets offering a cornucopia of seasonal flavors. From wild local mushrooms to the hallmark mint and coriander, lean chickens and camel's milk, it boasts a feast for senses on every level. The goal of NUR (Arabic for "light") is to shine a light on the potential of Moroccan gastronomy.

I had high expectations of this place after reading multiple reviews. I had thought with all the spices available in Morocco and the french touch, the food was going to burst with flavor.
The results: very disappointing. The food was very bland and nothing to remember. The only good things were the desserts. To be fair, the service was excellent and the place is very modern and chic.

We were lucky enough to be staying at Riad 9, the owner's guest house property, and had no idea that they had an equally stunning property around the corner with a restaurant. The atmosphere is chic and minimal, which is a lovely breath of fresh air in Fez where ornate Islamic architecture and interiors are de rigueur. The food is beautifully prepared and presented, and the local staff is charming. Highly recommend it, we ate there 3 out of 4 nights.

We were lucky to book for the New Year's Eve dinner. The restaurant was not difficult to find as it is just off Talla Kebira, the main street of the Medina. The food was a gastronomic experience! An amazing pigeon consommé, 2 tantalising oysters (one was warm with a hint of garlic and almonds), an impeccable foie gras and a delicious pigeon pastille, while enjoying a lovely moroccan red wine. The restaurant is also aesthetically beautiful and it offered us an amazing romantic and gastronomic experience! The set menu was 40euro per person and the wine was 20euro, a well-deserved bill for this great restaurant. Highly recommended for romantic dinners and gourmands.

This is a restaurant located in the renovated of a large riad building in Fes's historic Medina district. The chef is French and the food reflects his culinary background, with some Moroccan dishes also on the menu. He and his staff were wonderfully friendly and accomodating (one of the waiters was kind enough to come pick us up at our guesthouse, so we wouldn't get lost) and the food was excellent. Limited selection of Moroccan wines available, and that was a nice complement (at reasonable price) to a fine meal.

We booked at Number 7 because of reviews on Tripadvisor, and are so glad we did. The food was great, the service excellent, the interior fabulous. The whole thing felt sort of surreal and amazing. They sent someone to meet us at our riad so we wouldn't get lost on the way to the restaurant (and we would have); like so many other things in Morocco, nothing on the outside prepared us for the gorgeousness within. We ate pea soup, drank good wine, I loved my rabbit with tagliatelle and herbs, my friend loved her duck with potato puree and vegetables, and the dessert spread was wonderful (we shared a pear and chocolate tart and a sublime orange cake). The place was full in early December (many of the other great places we ate during our trip were empty). Eating here made me want to stay at the riad (Riad 9) next time I'm in Fez. It made me want to go shopping with the owners. It made me very happy.
