Description: NUR Restaurant is situated in the heart of the fes medina: the cradle of Moroccan gastronomy. The medina is filled with local markets offering a cornucopia of seasonal flavours. From tiny, thin-skinned lemons to sumptuous white mulberries, wild thistle hearts and salted, pickled plums, bunches of sage, mint and coriander, live chickens and camel's milk, it is a feast for senses on every level. The goal of NUR (Arabic for "light") is to shine a light on playful Moroccan cuisine.

“Gourmet food in a beautiful setting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 6, 2013 via mobile

We were lucky to book for the New Year's Eve dinner. The restaurant was not difficult to find as it is just off Talla Kebira, the main street of the Medina. The food was a gastronomic experience! An amazing pigeon consommé, 2 tantalising oysters (one was warm with a hint of garlic and almonds), an impeccable foie gras and a delicious pigeon pastille, while enjoying a lovely moroccan red wine. The restaurant is also aesthetically beautiful and it offered us an amazing romantic and gastronomic experience! The set menu was 40euro per person and the wine was 20euro, a well-deserved bill for this great restaurant. Highly recommended for romantic dinners and gourmands.

“Classy Place with Very Good Food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 28, 2012

This is a restaurant located in the renovated of a large riad building in Fes's historic Medina district. The chef is French and the food reflects his culinary background, with some Moroccan dishes also on the menu. He and his staff were wonderfully friendly and accomodating (one of the waiters was kind enough to come pick us up at our guesthouse, so we wouldn't get lost) and the food was excellent. Limited selection of Moroccan wines available, and that was a nice complement (at reasonable price) to a fine meal.

“Fabulousness hidden in the medina”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 14, 2012

We booked at Number 7 because of reviews on Tripadvisor, and are so glad we did. The food was great, the service excellent, the interior fabulous. The whole thing felt sort of surreal and amazing. They sent someone to meet us at our riad so we wouldn't get lost on the way to the restaurant (and we would have); like so many other things in Morocco, nothing on the outside prepared us for the gorgeousness within. We ate pea soup, drank good wine, I loved my rabbit with tagliatelle and herbs, my friend loved her duck with potato puree and vegetables, and the dessert spread was wonderful (we shared a pear and chocolate tart and a sublime orange cake). The place was full in early December (many of the other great places we ate during our trip were empty). Eating here made me want to stay at the riad (Riad 9) next time I'm in Fez. It made me want to go shopping with the owners. It made me very happy.

“Interesting experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 12, 2012

We learn about this restaurant through Trip Advisor. Firstly, to get there is a little bit tricky because it is inside the old Medina. The google maps was not accurate, but the taxi driver was kind enough to walk us from bab bajoulda (the last point where car are allowed) to the restaurant. Unfortunately, we arrived little late and two of the menu options were no longer available. Luckily, the ones left were different but very tasty. I had a shark and my wife had a rabbit, both delicious. Again, we were not lucky with the desert, as the last three pieces of the chocolate pie were taken by other clients. Even though, the almond pie that I ordered instead was great. The owner was kind enough to serve us an extra piece of orange cake to compensate for the chocolate pie frustration. The entire meal (including wine) was about 450 DH. Very good restaurant. Ah, the Moroccan wine was a (good) surprise.

“A culinary oasis in Fes”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 20, 2012

The food and atmosphere exude an understated elegance.
This may be one of the few restaurants inside the medina where you can order wine.
Bruno explained his menu to us and complemented the waiter's service well.
A most enjoyable dining experience.
