“Very small and cosy Riad in fez”
Reviewed November 4, 2013

Hi travellers

We spent few days in this little Riad and those are the positive and negative points of this Riad :

Positive points :
1. All the staff is extremely efficient and very helpful (the strongiest point)
2. The bedrooms and bathrooms are clean, the bed is very comfortable !!!! and the design is nice
3. The breakfast is very good, ask for fresh juices and eggs if you want to
4. There is a terrace with a small but beautiful view on the mountain
5. The riad is close to the blue gate, 10 minutes walk
6. There is free wifi

Negative points :
1. Some bedrooms have windows that give on the street and it can be noisy (from the street)
2. The windows of the bedroom on the basement can not be fully closed which means that when the Riad lights are opened, the light enters in your bedroom.
3. The dinner is good (the taste) but a bit expensive for the quantity offered. They should add some couscous or something more.

This place is great! it's a real gem. the design is beautiful, the staff are amazingly attentive and kind, The food is yummy ( and varied which can be an issue in morocco) and they had great wine choices. An added bonus is that while it is in the medina it is only a 1 minute walk to the edge so that you can get out and view other parts of the city without having to first traverse a maze :) I would recommend stopping by if you are in Fez.
On another note more generally and this is not a negative for the place but only a warning about being careful to outline what you want if you do a medina tour. if you book through their guide let him know that you don't want to go to the really touristy places to buy carpets or pottery or bags ( that cost you about 5 times the price for a tagine 40-80 mad vs 250 mad). Perhaps let them know that you are more interested in cultural aspects & seeing the real artisans if you are so they can tailor the tour to your tastes. Again this is just a personal thing

Room Tip: All the rooms are beautiful!!! the blue room is my pick for the most beautiful however it is also cl...

Riad Anata felt like a home far away from home. A beautiful and relaxing place to come home to after a day of discovering the inspiring city of fez. And wonderful food, cooked with love:-). We enjoyed and hope to come back one day...

Strategic location, beautifully decorated, friendly and helpful staff. Add to that the excellent food they serve and the equation is finished: excellent riad in Fez. Definitely a place to return and recommend.

Arrived here to be surrounded by beautiful decor. ..

Our host took us to the roof terrace but failed to tell us much about the riad, location or layout.

Kind of confused as we were left to our own device as we were told dinner had to be prepared.

Before we could get settled. ... It started.. The cement drilling of walls, chiselling, commotion yelling and screening of the workers renovating a rather large riad come restaurant hovering above our riad.

Have to be honest. .. Was tempted to politely advise our host that we'd like to leave. .. The peace and serenity we sort was definately not there.

Talk into staying by my wife. We requested a map and hit the square nearby.

Came back late to avoid the renovations.
Our lovely host arranged a guide for the next day and we took of early.

We visited a number of risfs during this trip. . Sorry to say this feel short in comparison.

For some reason we felt a void here. .. Really can't put our dinner on it. . Perhaps we got off to a bad start eith the drilling and hammering. .. word had it is a 5 year project so hope it doesn't impact Anata's business.
