“An art museum and a palace”
Reviewed May 30, 2013

Only three words to describe it: oh my god!!
We met the architect who was been part of the restoration of the Riad. He told us the family that owns it wanted it to be a museum to demonstrate Arabian art and craft after 6 years' restoration, but at the last moment they decided to open a guest house to share the astonishing work the local artisans have done, and let their guests to be able to simply stay and enjoy it. I thank them for that! Everything is hand-paint and handcrafted, it is an art museum and a palace.
We stayed in the Royal Aida room and we did feel like royal inside it. No more word can tell exactly how beautiful the Riad is, you have to come and see yourself.
Also, we booked the hamman and gommage with A'isha (I hope I spell it right), and it was excellent and absolutely relaxing. Definitely recommend it.
The riad is in the center of the Medina, but you must find a guide to lead the way at least the first day, there's no better way. Fès is an amazing city, frozen in time, magical mixture of chaos and pure beauty. Much less harassment compare to Marrakesh and you do feel that the people takes their time to live.
We spend our last hour in Fès at the terrace of the Riad, breathtaking view of the Medina, like looking back at the history...
We'll be back! P.S. Bisous from Paris to A'isha ^^

Room Tip: Royal Aida is the perfect choice for young couples! It has pretty narrow stairs for getting to the b...

The Riad Rcif right in the middle of the Fez Medina is simply stunning... The decoration of the lounge/dining area is outstanding... The tile work reminds me of the incredible beauty of the best mosques in Iran... And the bedrooms are just spectacular with individual decor and layout. Aisha the manager is so welcoming, so enthusiastic about everything Moroccan... She organised everything for me with such grace and care. The food... Especially the lamb and prune tagine is heavenly made by Fatima a great chef and big warn cuddly woman.

My ham an, massage and scrub was sensational... Just what I needed after a full on day finding my way through all the small alleys.

The service was wonderful and having a wine on the terrace at the end of the day was heavenly. I cannot recommend this place enough... A must for lovers of small, special and top quality care.

Unbelievable service, friendliness and attentiveness of all staff. A window into Moroccan hospitality and life both ancient and current.
Fatima's cooking was a highlight, Lahcen's ever present smile and fun, the Australian connection with manageress Aisha and the two brothers Salim and Hicham. Overall a memorable week in a magic palace.

The Medina looks like a slum but behind the front door is a palace. The decor is really fantastic with mosaics and intricately carved plaster. The owner was incredibly considerate and helpful as were all the staff. A taxi to the right entrance to the Medina is essential. The riad is actually quite well signposted from there but the Medina is quite a daunting place and phoning for someone to meet the taxi is advisable. The rooms are exotic spacious and comfortable - the effect is somewhat spoiled by a large flat screen tv. The food is good but the menu is limited so if you are staying for a few days a change of venue is advisable. All in all a memorable experience and very reasonably priced.

Room Tip: The Fatima suite is great but opens on to the dining/lounge area.

This Riad is, like someone mentioned, a home far away from home. Simply amazing architecture and decoration, very cosy, beautiful view from the terasse, excellent food and hospitality and very clean, too. Aysha (AKA Suzy)the manager, is warm and friendly, (since she is Australian, she speaks perfect English, so easy to communicate), as well as the other workers in Riad. Everything was great in this Riad so I can only recommend it. Really beautiful place.

Room Tip: We were using the Fatima suite. It is like being in a fairytale if you have enough imagination.

Very beautiful place. Service is very good and breakfast great. Stairs are a bit steep and no elevator. Terrace is a great spot for a beer and dinner when weather allows. Make sure to have them send a person to meet your taxi. Getting to the Riad the first time can be confusing. The location is very good to see the sights in the medina. Use one of the guides they recommend.

We had a fantastic week at Riad Rcif and were so impressed by both the building's interiors and the incredibly hospitable and friendly team who run it. Aisha (Sue from Australia), Hicham, Salim, Luhcen (best smile!) and Fatima do a brilliant job ensuring that your every need is met - from superb rooms, beautiful meals, travel tips and making sure that you are totally looked after. We will definately be back! The six year restoration of riad rcif is documented on their ipad, and it makes you realise that this is certainly a true architectural showpiece.
