Now first, I just want to clarify: I did NOT get food poisoning from this hotel and did not even eat here. I'm sure it is delicious and clean food. I was simply lucky enough to experience the unmistakable symptoms of full-blown, explosive food poisoning in the bathroom of Les Merinides. So while I can't tell you too much about the rest of this hotel, I do consider myself to be something of an expert on the subject of their men's bathroom. In short: this is nothing short of a five-star dream bathroom to get sick in. It is impeccably clean and exquisitely private. Each bathroom stall is fully walled-in to muffle your groans, and mercifully well ventilated. The tp and paper towels are all excellently stocked, ready for everything you can throw at them.

In my brief excursions away from the toilet, I did manage to see a bit of the hotel grounds. This hotel really really is a classy place, situated in an excellent location overlooking the old city of Fes. In between my frequent personal emergencies, I enjoyed the incredible view, and the excellent pool-side bottle service and live musicians. The clientele is classy, so even if you're going to be violently ill, you'll want to dress appropriately. Slacks, button-up shirt, jacket, and some good leather loafers are a good choice.

To be honest, I consider myself enormously lucky to have chosen Les Merinides for my food poisoning adventure. The staff were all quite understanding and highly professional.

Was here as part of a group for two nights in April. The hotel was a building site with many alterations going on everywhere. Room itself was just about acceptable apart from the rubbish on the flat roof outside the window. Food in the restaurant (buffet service) was poor, not labelled and cold. The main problem is the attitude of the hotel to safety issues. We reported that there was rubbish on the main stairs (also used as the fire escape). This included carpet ashesive which is highly flammable. Our tour leader was told it would be removed within one hour - it was still there the following morning. I spoke with the duty manager in the morning - yes, it should be moved, but he would not do it. Later that day it had gone. Also the fire doors don't meet so smoke will NOT be contained. Not a place I would go back to.

Although the Les Merinides offers outstanding view over the city, the bedrooms are in desperate need for a major refurbishment . I travelled as part of a group (16 people), the rooms were extremely dusty due to the fact there was an inch gap in-between the sliding window panels . I was kept wake most of the night by dogs barking all night, which I accept is beyond the hotels control however if the windows were installed with double glazing and there wasn't an inch gap In between the sliding glass panels the noise of barking dogs and traffic would certainly be reduced . Very poor guest rooms which were shabby and dirty. This hotel rates itself as 5star ( Moroccan standard ) , It was more like a 2 star hotel . There are far more superior hotels in Fes, AVOID the Les Merinides !!

Room Tip: Avoid this hotel with a passion

A very nice and quiet 5 stars with a lovely view on the old Medina of fes. Although The rooms are very well equipped, the management has decided to give a fresh refurbishement toThe hotel. The food is excellent and the service is memorable.

The hotel is located It’s on a hill overlooking the old town including the Medina. We only used it as an overnight stop so my comments are limited.
The food was of a reasonable standard with fair choice-buffet.However, I didn't appreciate being chased into reception over not paying for a bottle of water- we had assumed that as our room number was taken .......
The rooms ,however , were very tired and somewhat grubby. The window would not open, the safe did not work and it looked as if no furniture was ever move for cleaning.
To be fair the management was aware and whole parts were shut for renovation.
