“Perfect first morning in Fez”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 4, 2013

We had arrived in Fez the previous night, exhausted and overwhelmed by a day of traveling. We could not have found a better way to be "introduced" to the world of the Medina than in our tour with Jess, and our guide Mohammed. To be able to walk into the shops of the artisans and talk with them about their craft and even their lives provided an opportunity to really connect and experience Fez in a deeper and more meaningful way than I can imagine having experienced otherwise in our brief visit. Jess was organized, informative, responsive to our interests and needs, and fun to be with! I cannot recommend this highly enough.

“A highlight of our time in Fes for sure!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 30, 2013

Jessica was absolutely fantastic and we really felt enriched by the experience. Don't bother if you're only looking for someone to guide you around to the stores for shopping. This tour is about meeting the artisans in the medina, engaging with them, hearing about their craft and having a lot of fun while doing it. Jessica is an incredibly interesting Brit with a great story and clear commitment to promoting these talented and hardworking craftspeople. Highly recommended especially on a first day in Fes as you are struggling to get your bearings and navigate around the maze of the medina's alleys.

“A wonderful start to our time in Fes!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 24, 2013

Our tour with Jessica was a perfect orientation to our time in the bustling (& sometimes overwhelming) Fes Medina. The Artisans were absolutely gracious, welcoming and happy to engage with us throughout the tour. We felt no pressure to shop and that made it all feel like a true exchange of culture and creative energy, as opposed to a lightly veiled sales-pitch. Jessica had a wonderful rapport with everyone and was a wonderful facilitator for us in all the exchanges. Finally having the opportunity to photograph the artisans and their work, specifically the ground-floor of the tanneries, was extremely wonderful for me and an experience that was much more challenging in other areas of the country. If you take the tour, my recommendation is DO NOT skip seeing that part of the tanneries. It is most definitely medieval, as Jess warned us, but it is also most definitely worth observing. Thanks so much to Jessica and all the artisans of Fes for a fantastic experience.

“Up close and personal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 23, 2013

To have the oportunity to learn and contribute was important for us. Jess's artisan tour enabled us to do both. Being up close and personal with a variety of specialist artisans, sitting with them to watch and learn about their craft, the openness of what you can inquire about and their willingess to share about their craft and life was fantastic.
Whilst their were many highlights, walking amongst the tannery vats, the smells, sights, and the ability to be amongst it, the leather production of this 1000 year old tradition into perspective. Knowing that each artisan is paid for their professionalism, adds extra value.
Thank you Jess...fantastic tour.

“Insightful tour of artisan life in Fes”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 23, 2013

Jess's tour of the artisan world of the Fes Medina was perfect for our group. Not only did it inform us about how artisans work and how their methods have changed little since ancient times but gave us insights into Moroccan people and their way of life. The artisans we met were happy to answer questions ( we asked many), and often engaged with us as if we were old friends. We were all impressed with the relationship Jess has built with them and the work she is doing to help improve their conditions, especially the tannery workers. Our guide Mohammed was articulate, friendly and patient with our sidetracks and inquisitiveness. It is hard to decide on a highlight - would it be the knife sharpener, the comb maker or tanneries tour ? The artisan college we also fascinating even though it was a school holiday we were able to meet some teachers and students who were happy to show us their craft. As an introduction to our 12 day Writing Morocco journey this was excellent, in showing us how to navigate a medina, introducing us to Moroccan etiquette and values and giving us an authentic experience of Moroccan life. I will certainly be taking the tour agin next year with our group.
