“Stunning riad and generous hospitality”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 12, 2012

This has to be one of the best place I have stayed during my many visits to Morocco. Robert is a most charming and generous host and he made us feel instantly at home. All our needs were catered for and more, with early dinners of homemade pasta & sauce for the kids being no problem at all! The delivery of coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice outside our suite every morning was delightful.

The riad is restored beautifully and the furnishings are traditional without sacrificing on comfort. I can't wait to return.

i stayed for a few days last year. An enchanting experience. The Riad has been restored to a very high standard with excellent attention to detail. Excellent views from the roof and very good location. Very comfortable and an attentive host. I am looking forward to return now the restaurant is finished.

Living within the medina, listening to the call to prayer, absorbing the sounds of daily life in this ancient city - and to experience it all first hand from the comfort of 'our own Riad Idrissy' is truly unique. The spacious bedrooms each with its own bathroom and air conditioning, the roof garden, garden and central courtyard, all lovingly restored, provided a wonderfully relaxing counterbalance to the hustle and bustle of our sorties into the heart of the medina. Robert's hospitality, suggestions and local knowledge made our holiday. Evening meals by Nazira(?) and Robert himself were real treats. Choose the bedroom overlooking the street and eavesdrop on life in the Medina - an added bonus is the daily bin collection....by donkey.... A wonderful introduction to Morocco & to Fes. A belated but heartfelt thank you to all at the Riad Idrissy!

The best stay of our 10 day adventure in Fez was our stay at the Riad Idrissy. After a long trek from the Sahara, we were greeted by Robert who escorted us through the confusing medina to the most beautiful riad. Beautifully restored, the riad is a wonderful respite from the hustle of Fez. Robert is an amazing host, greeting us with a cold glass of Cava. Breakfast the next morning was served on the terrace overlooking Fez. Our final evening featured a fabulous meal cooked by Robert and served in the Ruined Garden. I would highly recommend this riad to anyone who wants an authentic Moroccan riad with wonderful hospitality.

What a wondrous trip 3 friends and I took recently to Fez and Riad Idrissy, a beautifully restored traditional Moroccan home with a gorgeous central courtyard and well-appointed salon for relaxing after a long day of shopping in the Medina. The four large bedrooms at each end of the house have all been beautifully restored as well, with a fantastic selection of antique furniture including four poster beds. Each of the bedrooms is also en-suite, with clean, renovated bathrooms, and best of all Air Conditioning! The roof of the Riad offers a spectacular view of the Medina, gorgeous sunsets, and the occasional ginger kitty looking for his dinner.

Master of the house Robert keeps the Riad in tip top shape, and is fantastically helpful with advice about where to go and what to do in and around Fez. Najir arrives every morning to make and serve a fabulous breakfast of yogurts, fruit and traditional Moroccan pastries on the rooftop, and she can even be hired (for a small fee pp) to make a delicious Moroccan dinner, which we were fortunate enough to experience on one of our nights there.

Riad Idrissy does not have a pool, but there is a pool in one of the other hotels just steps away and the cost for daily access is minimal.

Staying at Riad Idrissy, within the walls of the ancient Medina, truly makes for a remarkable, unforgettable experience. And Robert does a wonderful job of making guests feel at home and setting them at ease, despite the rather unique and unfamiliar surroundings.

Room Tip: If you want more privacy, ask for one of the rooms at the back of the house. The rooms at the front...

What a fabulous introduction to Fes and Morocco! Four friends travelling together, we made the most of Robert's local knowledge and fantastic cooking. Breakfast became something of a ritual thanks to the lovely maid/cook Najjir (sp?) who also turned out a wonderful beef and quince tajine for us one evening - preceded by an astonishing array of Moroccan salads.

The location is really convenient, it being a short walk to get to a taxi point at the edge of the medina and another short walk to get to the start of the main shopping drag. But best to wander round get lost and found again.

The Riad has been beautifully and sensitively refurbished for guests. We loved lounging in the gorgeous oriental salon off the courtyard. Sundowners and/or dinner on the roof are a real treat - the view is stunning.

Best of all, being in the middle of the life of the Medina and to have a temporary home behind the mysterious and high, nearly windowless walls of the city.

Room Tip: I nabbed the suite on the top floor that has direct access to the roof terrace - bliss. The suite o...

The Riad is spectacularly beautiful, hidden away from the hustle and bustle of life in Fez. All of the bedrooms were gorgeous and the view from the rooftop incredible. Rob was the most wonderful host, making us very welcome. He was great for advice of where to go and shared wonderful stories of Fez. The breakfasts were fabulous and the housekeeper a sweetheart... Go try it, you'll LOVE it!
