This hotel is located in the center of things. Many restaurants and a mall within walking distance. The hotel is very average with basic rooms. After checking in we found that the electric sockets and hair dryer were not working. They sent someone to fix it right away. When we asked for additional towels, they never came. The staff at the front desk spoke very basic English and would get frustrated if you ask questions. The pool is a little run down with missing tiles and the water was very cold.

I came to Fès with my family and we really enjoyed a lot. The staff fantastic, we had many doubts about the city and the things to do and the lady in the reception recomended us many things to do. We had a fantastic evening at the spa, a little small but very nicely decorated. The restaurant food could be better, but the waiters were very nice so we left very happy.

¡Absolutely a hotel I will recomend!

Room Tip: You should ask for the rooms view Medina, great views at night.

We booked into the Barcelo Medina Fez for three nights as a little hint to modernity after lots of lovely Riads in Morocco.
We were keen to use the pool, with poolside bar, relax a little in the evening in the lobby bar and enjoy some quality customer service in this very new hotel.
We were very disappointed.
Although the hotel is 'new' it is very tired looking. The pool has many tiles missing, the poolside bar (as advertised on the website and in the room literature) does not exist. The lobby bar had almost no stock and at it's busiest there were three couples in there. But our biggest gripe has to be the dire customer service.
We had to wait a good 10 minutes on more than one occasion for anyone to appear to serve us behind the bar in the lobby, wanting a cool drink next to the pool we went inside to be told someone would come to take our order but never arrived.
Used poolside towels were left lying around all afternoon and we had to go in search of fresh ones for us to use when we arrived after a hot afternoon in the medina.
On check out I asked the receptionist for a customer service questionnaire to fill in to give feedback and she informed me that she didn't have any and I should use the one in our room. The one in the room was already filled in with very positive comments - maybe from the last guest, or maybe by hotel staff - we don't know.
Customer service in the restaurant was also poor, with one member of staff openly arguing with another in front of us. One gentleman, maybe a manger?, was working hard to get staff motivated and had a good manner with staff but it seems he was working against the tide.
Our room was clean, spacious and cool. It provided the perfect respite from the poor customer service at this very tired looking and performing 'modern' hotel. At reception things weren't much better. On a couple of occasions we asked for advice on visiting the medina etc but none was forthcoming. We had also mentioned in our booking that we were visiting on our honeymoon but unlike every other hotel and riad we visited this was never acknowledged. Overall the whole experience felt lazy and tired and considering the price we paid very poor value for money.
A good location, we really enjoyed the evening celebrations on the night of the 5th Aug in the new town. But we would NOT recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Give it a wide berth

Good hotel, modern lobby, nice rooms and it has a pool. Font desk was very helpful. Breakfast was good with many choices. Rooms had all you needed, comfortable beds, comforters nice TV and quiet Air Conditioning. I could have rated this hotel a little lower based on the Housekeeping. It was OK but there was no Tissues. On the next day after the first night they did not provide any new drinking glasses they just left the same dirty ones in the room. They did not leave any new soap for the basin or the shower. Seems like they should train their staff a little better. It was not a big deal but worth mentioning. The pool was a little stark so they need to spruce it up with a lot more trees and plants. All in all it is a nice hotel. It is across the street from a brand new large indoor shopping center. The first on in the city we were told. The crowds were huge and they had line ups to get into the building. I am sure it will calm down when the folks get used to it. But it has every thing you might need just across the street.

Room Tip: ask for one with a balcony overlooking the front of the hotel.
