We were fortunate to have the riad to ourselves for 4 nights so felt very spoilt. It's been beautifully restored in blue and white tiles with lots of cedar, which gives off a natural scent, and the retention of some old coloured tiling, where possible - very calming to return to after the noise, colour and unique smell of the old medina. There is an upstairs terrace which is lovely early in the morning or in the evening. The manager, Kibir, was polite but not overly helpful, though this may have been due to his lack of english. Breakfast was repetitive and a second cup of coffee would have been appreciated as would milk in the fridge during the day so we could make ourselves tea or coffee, which we carry, but the maid always drank the left over milk and nothing was provided for us to look after ourselves during the day, including fresh water. We stayed in high 30/40 degree temperatures and with no aircon, a second fan in the bedroom would have been most welcome. We asked to do some washing and were told to give it to the maid who couldn't get the machine to open but didn't tell anyone until the morning we were leaving, creating stress. Despite these concerns we loved the riad though it would be less private if the other rooms were in use.

Room Tip: Check the rooms on the website as they vary insize considerably. The Grand Salon is worth paying for...

Our visit to Fez and our stay in the Dar Drissi was really fantastic!!
Kibir took very good care for us, the breakfasts were delicious, our room fabulous, we enjoyed everything very much.
Also our arrival and departure was perfect arranged by him
Thanks to Kibir we came into contact with Halid who guided us in the Medina.
We enjoyed visiting Fez and hope one day to return to your Dar Drissi.

Dar Drissi is a really nice place to stay Fez. You can experience the traditional maroccan lifestyle. The breakfast includes fresh orange juice with maroccan style bread. The location is in the middle of the medina, 10 minutes from the Bab Bou Jeloud. The rooftop terrace is perfect for relaxing and you get a nice view.
Kibir, the manager, is very friendly and helpful and make your stay in Fez easy.
We would definitely recommend this Dar to our friends and family.

Dar Drissi is very comfortable and Kibir was great. He answered all our questions, helped us set up dinners and taxis and made our stay very comfortable. Four of us stayed in the Grand Salon, which is is beautiful and comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious and plentiful. There were always oranges out for guests to have a snack and they were fabulous oranges! The woman who cleaned was delightful and everyone really helped out when our friend sprained her ankle. We enjoyed the rooftop terrace, what a great place to relax. We definitely felt at home at Dar Drissi. We even heated up leftovers from restaurant lunches a couple of times and ate in the courtyard.

Room Tip: The Grand Salon was huge and comfortable. We were four adults who travel together often so having se...

We stayed in Dar Drissi for a short break. It really is a beautifully restored "dar", situated in the middle of Fez medina. Despite being 'in the thick of it', surrounded by the hussle bustle of medina life, it was a haven of tranquility. The place is absolutely spotless and all the rooms are en suite. This meant the advantage of a high class hotel comfort, together with the authentic Moroccan architecture. Definitely up there with one of the nicest places I've stayed in.

My son and I recently stayed at Dar Drissi in Fez. From start to finish we felt thoroughly well looked after and completely "at home".The house is really clean & beautiful, with many original decorative features including a fountain in the courtyard and exquisite painted wooden ceilings. Dar Drissi is a peaceful haven tucked just minutes away from the bustling medina streets. The roof terrace with its view over the medina is a great place to watch the sunset and listen to the call to prayer. Kibir the manager is very polite and helpful. He serves a delicious Moroccan breakfast and is always happy to help you plan a trip, arrange a guide etc. We took the upper and lower rooms and slept really well in comfortable beds. We would recommend everyone to stay at Dar Drissi.

Room Tip: We could hear the neighbours TV from the upper and lower rooms, but this didn't bother us at all...

Dar Drissi is the best place to stay in Fez thanks to the ideal combination of British owners and a Moroccan manager. The owners have lovingly restored the house to its former glory and then some. The courtyard is amazing. The grand salon offers luxury with beautiful furnishings and its own bathroom with bath tub. The courtyard salon is another large room with opulent furnishings. Both can be booked by singles or couples for some Moroccan luxury or by larger groups or familes travelling on a budget. There are also two smaller rooms but don't think they are any less impressive with en suites and an original - and beautiful - painted wooden ceiling. The whole house can be booked, as well as individual rooms so Dar Drissi really does suit everyone. Amenities and furnishings are carefully picked out to provide both comfort and style - one of the most comfortable beds that I've slept in with soft sheets and warm duvets.
Kebir the manager is dynamite. He'll arrange taxis and pick you up to escort you to the house along the narrow, winding streets. Any anxiety at arriving at a strange place is immediately dispelled. He'll also help you with any arrangements or information you might need during your stay.
Breakfast is taken in the courtyard - what a way to start the day - or take your coffee up to the roof top terrace to take in the sun and the scenery. Also take advantage of the dining in the house. Zahar will cook you the most fabulous Moroccan meal - better than any of the local restaurants - and great value for money.
All in all, a great place to stay and I thoroughly recommend it.

Room Tip: Grand salon for luxury. All rooms are quiet.
