“A beautiful riad with friendly staff”
Reviewed April 2, 2012

We spent a fantastic 3 nights here in March. The location is great, just off the main street in the Medina although we'd advise getting them to meet you from the main gate (which they do offer) as the side street is well hidden behind a carpet shop! The riad itself is very pretty with lots of mosaic and a small roof terrace with a berber tent. Our room was also very nice. The staff were probably the highlight, always offering mint tea and good advice about things to do. We took them up on their offer of a guide which turned out to be a the best thing we did as he took us far deeper in the medina then we could have dared go by ourselves. We also went shopping in the market one evening with one of the staff who then taught us how to cook a tagine. Also, the breakfasts were delicious! We are all hoping to go back to Fes one day and stay there again!

The place was excellent. From the moment we arrived the staff were incredibly helpful and would always ask if we needed anything. They even offered us dinner on the nights we were there - one night we took them up on the offer and asked if we could help. Mohammed took us round the market and then taught us how to cook the traditional Moroccan dish. All round, a great place to stay, great value for money and an excellent location.

Room Tip: We had a private double.

Initially booked this hostel/riad for 2 nights. We loved it (and Fes) so much that we extended our stay. All the staff are really friendly and offered lots of great advise.
The rooms are all clean and comfortable. There is a roof terrace, where you can have breakfast.
Additional bonus: Mint tea was always on tap

We spent 4 days in fantastic Fes in Dar el Yasmine. The house is very beautiful, but old so a bit loud (but all the old riads are like this). There is a big roof top terrace with great views of the city. The staff is very nice people and always happy to help and organize transport, trips, guided-tours and are reliable. This is one of the best hostals I ever stayed in!

Although staff was friendly and riad is relatively nice and clean, they asked us politely (we could say no) if we could help them and move to another place of their friend's, because they've booked more rooms than they had by mistake. They said they are asking us as we look friendly and ok. We did move as another place was also a fine one, and we were offered a lunch or dinner by the guys, but as some of their first questions in the morning were if we need guides, want safari, etc., we got a feeling that money is their top priority and that they thought they could get more money from someone else...

I was refered to stayed at Dar El Yasmine in Fez by a friend and within the three weeks of my travelling through Morocco it was by far the best stay I had experienced. Aziz, Mhamed, Hicham, Fatimzahra & Henha's kindness, hospitality & generosity will never be forgotten and I now have a new family at Dar El Yasmine. The rooms are claen & nicely decorated, there is WiFi and a great terrace to hang out in. I fell in love with this little riad & all the staff, neadless to say I shall return.
Love from Tanya...Melbourne, Australia
