“Friendly welcome and good food.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 28, 2013 via mobile

If you phone, you will be collected and taken there (and back), as we would never have found it on our own! Our hosts were welcoming and we felt at home, in fact we discovered it was their home. There was a choice of four menus each with three courses. The first course was Moroccan salads, which were the best we had in Morocco. For our main course we chose the (chicken) pastilla which was tasty but a little dry. The dessert was fresh fruit. Building work is underway to enlarge the premises, so that larger groups can be accommodated, which may reduce the charm in future. Overall, we had a very pleasant evening there.

“Good food in a nice atmosphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 20, 2013

Dar Hatim offers a choice of 4 set menus of 3/4 courses ranging in price from 100 to 200 dirhams. All come with a starter consisting of 8-10 different small dishes: vegetables, rice and beans deliciously seasoned and cooked and in ample portions (our waitress, who also happens to be co-owner with her husband, told us we could have more of anything we wanted). Main dishes (I had the chicken pie/"pastilla" while my wife had the vegetables and couscous) were good and again, very large portions. Finally, we had a plate of fresh fruit and moroccan cookies. The atmosphere was friendly and homey. We enjoyed it and would suggest it to friends.

“Expensive, but you get what you pay for: tasty food, good portions and excellent service.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 15, 2013 via mobile

Two of us spent 470drh for the two most expensive set meals - steamed lamb and pastilla. To be fair it was one of the tastier meals we've had in Morocco over two weeks. And their salad was extensive and varied, different from other "salade morocaine" that most restaurants serve. And it came with chilli/sambal/harissa, a welcome spicy addition!

If you're on a tight budget, this isn't the place for you. But for most mid-range and higher tourists, it's highly recommended.

“Home-cooked Meal!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 12, 2013

If you want to experience some Moroccan hospitality and home cooked -food, eat here!
First they pick you up from your Riad or Dar, and they take you to the restaurant (big plus not to walk or get lost at night).
They give you tons of warm and cold salads, enough to make a meal, but after, your main dish, which could be their specialty (chicken pastille) among other Moroccan dishes. Have a light lunch if you plan to eat dinner here. They give you plenty of food. The lady running the kitchen is super bubbly and a great host, she takes her food very seriously.

“Home cooking par excellence”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 7, 2013

We wanted to try a home cook Moroccan meal and my clever wife found this restaurant.

We were driven from our hotel by the kind man of the house, Fouad to his home and later sent us back to our riad.

The dining area was superbly decorated and gave an immediate homely feel to the place.

The starters requires a mention, they served a selection of 10 plus cooked vegetables. For those who have been to Korean restaurants in Malaysia, to give u an idea of what I mean. The Fes selection is totally diffrent and a must try.

I had a lamb mechoui which is excellent, very tender . My wife had a couscous with poulet, tasty.

If your in Fes looking for a local home cooked Moroccan meal this is the place. The service is homely as well.

They serve a brilliant Moroccan wine as well.
