All rooms lead off a central open living area where people smoke, play drums and very loud music until past 1am. The rooms are open and there is no way of shutting yourself off from the main area. It's impossible to sleep and after 4+ hour of smoke and noise it's unbearably frustrating.

I also was reccomended to go on two tours. Both were an absolute rip off. The tour guide took us to the most expensive shops where there was immense pressure to buy very expensive goods and you were trapped in a very small room with no way of politely leaving. Not only were the shops a rip off, the tour guide asked for a tip and when he saw that I had a €20 euro note he refused to take me home unless I tipped him the full €20. This is more than double the cost of the tour.

People seem very nice at this hostel at first, but it's all a ploy to make money.

Honestly would not recommend this hostel. I'm 21 yes old and have been backpacking all through europe and this is the worst place I've stayed.

We traveled around for 5 weeks in Morocco and stayed in a few Riads across the country and this was by far one of the nicest we found.
We stayed for 5 nights. Noor and Leonora are lovely hosts and well in tune with what their guests want.

Riad Verus is immaculately clean and easy to find. Not only did our taxi find it easy to park almost outside but its near enough to the bus stop too.

The showers were hot which was pretty impressive as there are 9 rooms and during my stay counted an average of 27 guests a night. They even offered us a hammam on our last day as a freebie which was a nice welcome treat. On checkin worth sampling the homemade cookies and warming tea.

We highly recommend a stay here. Price exceptional and service pretty darn good. If we were to come back we will certainly stay here.

We arrived in Fez and followed the helpful and careful directions provided by the hostel website (with a video). Alas, our taxi driver did not drop us off at the correct location and we found ourselves lost in the maze of the medina. Fortunately, the staff are wonderful and a quick phone call brought Yosef to our rescue! Upon arriving at the riad we were given "Moroccan whiskey," (tea) which was offered to us constantly and was always brewed with love and care. Leonora was also full of travel advice for our whole stay in morocco and was happy to help with anything. They offered dinner each night, a traditional Moroccan dish and even went to the effort of making a vegetarian option for us. The staff have great advice for what to do in Fez, there is nothing quite like a traditional hammam with "big mamma!" Furthermore, all the staff (shout out to Yosef once more!) were happy to show us around - being two young girls this was extremely helpful - at any time and would pick us up also! An evening drive up to the castle and queens palace by the owner Noor was an unexpected and welcomed delight! Thanks for an amazing time verus staff, we will most surely be back soon and for a much longer stay!

We are so pleased you had a wonderful stay here and your time was made all the better by the staff so warmly looking out for you both and ensuring they were on hand to help with any advices, providing you with tea, taking you for a rampart tour and taking you to the hammam. We look forward to your soon return,

This hostel was beautiful, we loved it the moment we walked in. Leonora was extremely helpful, and knowledgable about what Fes had to offer and where we should spend the little time we had there. She was professional and organized, and made us feel safe as two girls traveling alone through Morocco. The riad offered tons of activities, from henna to yoga, and breakfasts at a time I could actually wake up for. The staff was more than willing to show us around personally, go out and get our bus tickets, and even walk us to our restaurants and taxis. There's also a cool place to hang out on the roof, with a colorful tent with pillows and soft lights. It's gorgeous, and a good way to meet fellow travelers! Last but not least, the abundance of plants that decorate the doorway from the outside make Riad Verus easy to spot in the maze that constitutes the Fes medina.

We are so pleased that you were made to feel safe and that you enjoyed all the activities like henna, yoga provided at the Riad and that you liked the breakfasts and the facilities we offer such as the bus ticket service. We are glad you liked the decor internally and externally in the Riad and the berber jaima to chill out in in the evenings.

3 days in fes is not enough to see it all but thanks to the team at the riad verus we managed to cram alot in due to their knowledge about fes. Bathrooms were clean and breakfasts worth getting up for. Pleased we made this choice.

As my title says, pretty average hostel. Nothing spectacular, nothing terrible. Has anyone else met the turban wearing guy in fez who calls himself Charlie brown? What a character. Showed us around fez telling us his life story then he got arrested by cops as we left and turned out he's a pick pocket so beware ;-) (this guy isn't linked to hostel) I'm waffling now goodnight

We are pleased that you liked the hostel but saddened that the faux guide in question put a dampener on your Fes experience. We do warn all our guests not to engage in the services of these men and know exactly who you are referring to. We are pleased that you made the comment that he is in no way linked to the Riad, no doubt he is probably in jail as i write this having conned some other tourists.

Riad Verus has all of what you need for a great budget holiday, plenty of activities to choose from, staff who are willing to show you around and help if you need stuff and a stunning interior with very comfortable beds and cosy towels and hot showers. As I write this review I am reading others and think that you write a trip advisor either if you had a great time or if you didn't have such a good time...well I was one of the ones who had an amazing time here and will happily rave about it to whoever will read me. The young staff are overworked yes, when you stay in a popular place where guests are coming and going all day long and the days are long tensions do get high in any stressed atmosphere so from what I saw in the 10 days I stayed at the Riad the staff were remarkably calm, professional and collected. Some guests would ask really dumb questions and even after 5 days staying there it was clear who was going to vibe. If you need anything then the owners were always onsite or a phone call away to sort things out if the staff needed guidance or did not understand what we wanted. All in all, the Riad is not a five star palace but when you pay 20 euros for a bed you get incredible value and a great location hard to beat.

Room Tip: Get one of the ones on the ground floor if you want to meet others more easily.
