Dar Malika was both convenient and comfortable throughout my stay in Fez. It's location in the medina (the old walled city) is perfect: while it is far from the bustle of the major city gates, it's still on the city's main walk. The house is halfway between Bab Boujloud (the blue gate) and the Qarawiyyin mosque that sits in the city center. The proximity to a major car park, though, makes it easy to get to, which is rarity in Fez. Finding taxis or dragging suitcases around the bumpy and steep alleys can be burdensome and Dar Malika is far more convenient than most other places for both of these things. Plus, it's around the corner from a wide range of shops and some of Fez's best restaurants.
Si Mohammad, the house manager, was excellent. Arranging a pickup from the train station was simple and he was always nearby to answer questions. The breakfast was a perfect way to start the day, especially during Ramadan when food can be scarce during the daytime hours. Every room of the house was comfortable and beautifully decorated. The restoration work was excellent, making the house a real treat to stay in. I have already recommended it to friends coming to Fez and will continue to do so.
