My trip to morocco was pretty much led by food. Marrakech had poor excuses for tajine and couscous and so far Rabat's number one place has proved so disappointing that I'm not even going to try in Casablanca. But the food in le Kasbah? Delicious!!!! 40dh gets you a massive plate of the most delicious couscous (veg, beef, chicken) that you'll eat in morocco. They open early and stay open late and the food is the same quality all day long. If its warm out, sit on the roof. If you're chilly, second floor. If you're feeling adventurous AND it's warm? Sit outside at one of the two tables in front. The mint tea is also good, but the (garlic soup served until 12) is a little boring. Almond milkshakes are interesting and really sweet.

My advice would be to stick to the couscous and you won't be sorry!

I expected a tourist trap but it was a treat. It was pouring rain outside but the decor made it cozy inside. The chicken tajine with almonds and raisins was one of the best that I have had in Morocco. Delicious. On another day, I went back for couscous on the small terrace. Le Kasbah felt distinctly Fez/Fassi.

This was an OK cafe to hang out in between your shopping frenzy at the medina. The plus point would have to be its covered terrace where you get see over Bab Bou Jloud, and for the most part, the hustle and bustle of the medina. We only realized later that we were charged double for our Coke and water. It seems that (according to Lonely Planet) that's the policy at Le Kasbah if you only order drinks. Given that there's really not much of a view over the Bab Bou Jloud other than passing traffic, there are other cafes nearby, and even more hidden within Talaa Kebira or Talaa Seghira, that can offer a better glimpse of life in the medina.
