We were actually staying at a different riad when we found out about this French restaurant (which is also a riad). The dining room is in the middle of the riad's courtyard. There were 6 tables and even a Christmas tree! The decor and overall ambiance was amazing with traditional Moroccan tile, dim lighting, and light overhead music. For those Americans who like to eat early, the earliest reservation was 7pm. Dar Roumana provided a "pickup service" where a young man met at our riad and walked us to/from venue back to riad. This is an excellent service, as you will likely get lost in Fes without a guide. The chef's wife was our server. She was very polite and attentive.
The menu is small with choice of a 2 course French dinner menu or 3 course. We both ordered the steak and mashed potatoes with dessert. The steak was perfectly cooked and the mashed potatoes were divine. Honestly, the best potatoes we have ever had, which of course, were made entirely of butter! Prices are comparable to other riad restaurants in Fes. Highly recommended.
