First of all, I think when you compare Novotel with other hotels under the chain or other hotels elsewhere, it will definitely pale in comparison. But when you check out the alternatives, I think you'll find that Novotel is one of the most decent hotels in Casablanca. For a four-star hotel, it's quite lacking in terms of efficient and excellent service and usable amenities.

Rooms quite clean and modern. My wife who's quite picky with beds actually liked the comfortable bed and pillows. Although my main concern is the air condition which they automatically set on heater mode during winter months --- and it can get quite warm so we had no choice but to open the windows which would have been okay if the hotel is far from the city. But since it's very near the old medina and the port ---- you can hear the street noise up until early morning.

We stayed for three nights and the location of the hotel is great. You can walk to the old medina and there are a lot of restaurants within walking distance. We also tried the restaurant downstairs, food was okay and service was okay ---- but nothing memorable.

I guess, there's really a gaping hole and opportunity for a hotelier to step in and introduce a really good 4 star hotel in Casablanca.

we made a pre-paid reservation which was paid with american express. Upon our arrival at 01.30 in the nite, the front-desk assistent made us believe that the payment was not yet debited and that we had to pay again. This time a payment that would be debited indeed. As there was no controll for us, the only way to get our room (and this in the middle of the nite after a long flight) was to do the payment. We found it odd, being a priviliged guest of Accor, to be obliged to pay before even stayed. But there was no other solution. This all in a way that was not unpolite but far from being friendly neither. There was no "enjoy your stay" nor "have a good nite".
The room was in its basics OK: bed, bathroom and towels. The minibar was empty and the room far from being cosy. The next morning we noticed that the windows were to dirty to have a clear look out.
The breakfast was poor. We arrived and there were no fruits, no cheese and no scrambled eggs. When we left 30 minutes later they still had not arrived. There were 3 ladies to attend. They didnot pay any attention to the guests. We had to beg their attention for coffee.
When we left the hotel there was no-body to say goodbye.
We never go back to this hotel.
